3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's okay, not great. I mainly went to the school because of cost and so that I can transfer somewhere else after a semester.

3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: I've had an oddly low workload with few to none assignments. It's been quite difficult actually and it feels as if I am not even in college.

3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: I do not feel like I am learning at all and I have no homework or few to none tests.

3 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: It's again not great. It was very difficult signing up for classes and when I finally did I wasn't in any classes that would work towards my major. So basically I am in useless classes until I can transfer.

2 College Freshman

Student Body: It's not good. No one really interacts at all even when put into groups for discussion in class. Outside of class is a joke and everyone is just rushing to leave.

3 College Freshman

Career Services: I do not know about the post-grad services. I am a sophomore.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Again everything is basically ok. There isn't exactly a student center and the library is very small.

2 College Freshman

Campus Resources: It's not great. I can't access some of my apps over the wireless which is a problem and it's kind of slow.

3 College Freshman

Online Courses: It' ok, not the greatest. It's hard to stay on top of the assignments because you don't get notified or reminded like you might in a classroom.

4 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: It's very affordable because it's a community college and because I am in-state.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: It's not that great, it's just a community college so you don't really want to spend any more time there than you have to.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: If I could do it all over again I would choose Oakton again because it offers so many programs at affordable cost, specially if you are paying out of pocket. The atmosphere is great and I really like most of the teachers I have had. The majority have been very clear and challenging so that I really learn and get educated in my field.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: I really like the library and computer center. They are both available at most times and there is always someone willing to help if any questions should arise.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: One thing I really like about the computer labs is that the printing is free and relatively simple. There is no hassle getting cards with money to print and various programs are available in the computer. The network is pretty reliable and the school has many databases to look up articles.

5 College Junior

Student Body: The typical student is very respectful, always pays attention. I see much diversity there which is nice and the students are friendly.

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Its easy to register if you are doing it online, and there is always someone available to help with the technical things. It takes more time to speak to an advisor on choice of classes though.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: I like that I can contact my professor through email and usually receive an answer the very next day if not the same (depending on the time). Its also very helpful with time flexibility. The registration process is quite simple. I did it online.

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I feel like the education here is very affordable compared to many colleges, specially if you live near the school. The quality of the classes are great for the most part and affordable. Also there are plans for payment which makes it easier if you cant pay everything at once when you register.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The programs are very flexible and many are offered evenings and days. It is also very easy to log into account and register and drop classes. I like that the tutoring center always has many openings and flexible times and the teachers are also very approachable and eager to help to improve the academic experience and growth.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: The teachers that I have had so far are pretty good and as long as you complete your work and put the necessary effort to the class you will receive tons of helpful information. The school is always very clean, there are two writing centers which are open until late hours so you can always have a computer available. Fellow students are very respectful and friendly. I think this schools environment is very helpful and as long as you put in the effort you will see it in your grades.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Being in the HIT (health information technology program) is really good in this school. I feel like their is a lot of support from staff, teachers, and other students. The current program that I am taking has very flexible hours and can be completed in evening or day classes which is great for difficult schedules.

3 College Junior

Career Services: I think the career advisers are very helpful in helping you find what you are interested in pursuing.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The resources are very helpful. If you don't have a computer at home, that is no problem. The school has a library, a computer lab, and just computers down in the main lobby. The one thing a student can not complain about is the hours of the available resources, because they are very realistic. Open before school, and after school. Additional to those resources are the opportunities of being able to get one on one tutoring. The school also offers counseling for outside of school issues, or advising/career counseling. One of the best things that I love about this school is the movie room. I've experienced many individuals who do not attend the school come in with students of the school, and the fact that they have some kind of entertainment to occupy their time waiting is very thoughtful.

Campus Resources: This is my second semester at Oakton, and since I've been here I have never had a problem logging in to the database, printing anything, or even labtop problems. There is wifi on campus, you have a limit of 20 pages per person per computer, and computer availability is never a problem. The only problem I have ever had is the speed when logging on, sometime if you are the first to use the computer for the day, it loads for what seems like 20 minutes.

4 College Junior

Student Body: The atmosphere at this college is nothing like high school, which is great. You never have to worry about that feeling of being left out. Everything in college is basically self made. It's up to you as an individual to make you schedule based on your availability only. Also, you are not at school the entire day so it is great. The students are very well behaved. Everyone seems friendly according to the huge event on campus. Every time the school has one, a majority of the student body attends, but besides that everyone is just in school to accomplish their goal each day, and leave. I've never had any conflict with a student since I've first attended until now.
