Transportation: We do not have campus transportation because our college is so close and connected together it is easy and convenient for students to get around.

Facilities: The life on campus is amazing. I am a senior and I still live in the dorms because of the cost and they are always having great and fun activities for the students to be involved in and get to know people. I love being apart of all of it. And the facilities provide great places to hold all of these events.

Athletics: The school takes great pride in our athletics even is the season isn't going so well for a certain sport. I know we moved up to D2 (correct me if I'm wrong) and it's been great for the school but the sports are still getting used to it. But the school and the students are awesome at supporting them no matter what. Coming to NWOSU was the best decision I have ever made. I am so proud to be a Ranger!

Health & Safety: I've never felt unsafe on campus even when walking alone.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There is a shortage of off-campus housing here. Plus prices tend to be high due to oilfield traffic. However, there are some very nice apartments and houses available and you can find some at decent prices if you look around.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: There is one club in town and it is decent and doesn't cost a lot to get in. There are other bars but most of them are pretty scummy.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Safety isn't a big problem but the dorms are very unclean and there is mold everywhere

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Without this university the town would shrivel up and die

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: One night club in town but they are very strict on underage drinking

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Honestly I have never felt unsafe at NWOSU. It is a small campus and extremely safe. They have campus police available to call 24 hrs a day and 7 days a week if needed. Honestly I feel extremely safe on campus.

Nightlife: Thursday thru Saturday Nights at Northwestern are usually exciting. They have a dance club in Alva that after you turn 16 you can go and have fun but no drinking till you are 21 years of age. They have great bodyguards who help keep the place safe while they are open so I would say they have great night life.

Off-Campus Housing: Off Campus Housing at Northwestern Oklahoma State University I heard is great. Sure it is a bit expensive for the rent but hey at least you can get out of the dorms. They have room for a room mate to split the cost and hey no dorms. So on the up side its all great.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: The computer labs and wireless access is great at Northwestern Oklahoma State University is great. You always have a way to get onto a computer. They have like three computer labs plus you have free internet in your dorms. So all together I would say we have great computer access.

Weather: The weather at my school is crazy! It changes just about everyday and sometimes multiple times in one day. You can wake up and it's cold and rainy then by the afternoon you need shorts and a tank top. It also snows pretty bad and this past year we were out of school for over a week! It's crazy but when the weather it's good it's good. The only issue is you never know what the weather will be like so it's hard deciding what to wear or if it's fitting for a relaxing day outdoors with friends.

Scholarships: I've had my share of ups and downs with the financial aid process it always seems to be a hassle for me but the representatives at my school do a good job of assisting me through the process and making sure I get the aid I need. A good tip for getting financial aid at my school is just being persistent. Check with the financial aid everyday if you have to and even drop by a few times.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: There is a zero tolerance for drugs at my school and I believe there was recently a ban on the use of tobacco and other drugs on school property. You don't see people enjoying a cigarette on their way to class or anything like that. However, drug activities have been found to take place in the dorms and some people still haven't got caught so it's not enforced as strongly as it could be. Alcohol is not allowed on campus either but the majority of people do it just not during school.

4 College Senior

Diversity: There is a variety of students from all over in fact one of the first students I met was from Nepal. However, the majority is evident. The small town we live in is mostly populated by people who are of white decent and the university is no different. There is an expansion of more ethnicities ranging from places like Brazil with the addition of a volleyball team. Every year I come back it gets more and more diverse so I see the diversity expanding.

Nightlife: There isnt much to do in the night life scene here at school theres a couple bars and a dance club which is pretty fun, but it gets old after awhile. There aren't a lot of house parties that go on either, because cops are so strict. We make it worth our while though

3 College Junior

Diversity: The campus is full of a variety of different kinds of people, all with different races and ethnicities and views about life. The one thing that about 85% of the students have in common on campus though is that we are all some kind of athlete for the school. So school pride is very big on campus, and school functions are very exciting to get everyone ready for game days.

Greek Life: At NWOSU there are two sororities and one fraternity. Only one sorority has a good reputation, but the other seems to draw more participants. The lone fraternity is not recognized and does not complete its' philanthropic duties. No Greek housing available.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: NWOSU is located in a rural community. The closest mall and decent hospital is 75 miles away. The closest airport is two hours north in Kansas. This provides a good idea as to the type of dining present in Alva, OK. For low budget options under $10, there are a handful of fast food chains including McDonalds, Sonic, Pizza Hut, Taco Mayo, and Subway. The best places to eat in town are Gambinos (pizza) and The Sandwich Shoppe (only open 11-2;5-8).

3 College Junior

Academics: Because the university is small in enrollment numbers, the student/faculty ratio is quite good. Students are not just a number. They form relationships with the professors. Besides a few courses within each degree program, overall the course curriculum is not too rigorous. The registration process can be a bit stressful with the paper pushing, but most institutions are similar in this aspect. Popular study areas for this university are Agriculture Business, Nursing, and Education.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The campus police are strict about underage drinking. They're strict about any drinkning on campus. Any dorm parties definitely get busted. I think the campus police are extremely helpful, though. There was one time one of them jump started my car when the battery went dead. I don't think they're really "too" strict about anything.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: There are definitely a lot of people that drink, not on the campus though. Drugs are never really a problem here. There's some peer pressure to drink, but nobody forces you to drink and nobody makes you feel left out if you don't.

4 College Junior

Weather: Oklahoma has crazy weather and that's not the campus' fault. However, the buildings do stay consistently cool or warm depending on the season. It's nice to go inside the buildings and get a cool breeze when it's hot outside or a warm and cozy feeling when it's cold outside.
