3 College Sophomore

Online Courses: The workload was average, the professor/student relationship was I turned in the homework, he graded it. There really wasn't peer-to-peer interaction, I dug it though because it was very 'hey, do this paper. Have it done by this date.' Simplicity.

5 College Freshman

Online Courses: The Online classes at Northwest Florida is great because it is just like a real classroom except the fact that you can do it at your pace, which makes the workload seem like there is enough time to get everything done.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: Class discussion pages are great. Ability to contact instructors is great. Timely update of grades is great.

3 College Student

Online Courses: It's alright, it all depends on the teachers though.

3 College Senior

Online Courses: Most of my online classes have been a waste of my time. The book was not required and all the answers were given to you. Some things from the classes stick to memory but most of it was a refresher from high school.

Online courses at Northwest Florida State College can be both rewarding and challenging. Some students find it harder to absorb course material for certain courses if they do not attend lectures during the week. In addition, it takes self-discipline and willpower to complete these courses. If a student can easily maintain their online courses in conjunction with regular employment, they usually do very well.

Some students take online courses, as well as courses on campus, in the same semester. Students seem to be able to keep up with this schedule by working their online course(s) between other courses on the same day, thereby attending a full day of class and avoiding procrastination.

Facts & Statistics

Required Tech Skills
Students should have a basic knowledge of computers, the Internet, and e-mail. Students should also have access to a high-speed Internet connection.
Anyone having issues with class software or other problems can contact NWFSC technical support for help. If a problem with a student's personal computer or laptop can't be fixed, the student may need to access the class from another computer.
Online Testing & Grading
Online classes may use in-person or online exams. Your instructor should explain how testing will be handled in his or her particular class, as well as when and where tests will take place. Students can also check class study guides or the NWFSC eCampus website (eCampus.nwfsc.edu) for scheduled testing dates for specific classes.
