Local Atmosphere: The Marquette area is one of the most beautiful. Closeby are many attractions: the beach, parks, hiking, ski trails, biking, etc.

Guys & Girls: Met my husband at NMU - it's a great place to make lasting relationships.

Computers: Every student is issued a laptop - most have the Thinkpad, but art students are issued MacBooks. Software included as appropriate for your major and class schedule. Wireless is available all throughout campus, with WiMax service available throughout the city and some surrounding areas.

Athletics: NMU Hockey is huge. Football is coming back, I think. It's cool to have the USOEC on campus.

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus apartments are fairly close (within walking distance) to campus. Rent seems high for students, but that's life. There's a variety - duplex/triplex-type apartments or traditional apartment buildings.

Weather: Well, you have to be able to tolerate snow, ice, and cold. It's snowy here from November to March, with October, April, and May being pretty wintery as well.

Greek Life: Greek life is not a huge factor on campus. It would be nice to see it more respected and involved around campus, and less party-oriented.

Majors: Haven't had an internship - but need one to complete my degree in Public Administration. Internships can be found using Career Services' online system, Cat Career Tracks. Sometimes on-campus jobs can be used for internship credit.

Majors: I love the MPA program! So far, it's been great, very flexible. It will be helpful to secure a better position with my current employer, or to eventually work in local/municipal government (which also interests me).

Off-Campus Housing: Off-campus housing is cheaper, in some cases, than living on Campus. Having a car may be necessary, depending on the location.

Computers: The university gives every student a pretty decent laptop. Students aren't required to take the laptops, but should so they can have updated software. The help desk for the laptops are very helpful and have great hours. Students can also go to the MERC to print 10 free pages a day, if they don't have a printer or money to print in the library.

Health & Safety: The health center on campus is very convenient. They have plenty of medicine at fair prices. Also, public safety is more than willing to drive you to the clinic if you feel unbearably sick, they are willing to come pick you up on campus at night if your afraid, and drive you to class if you have an injury.

Campus Strictness: Authorities are very strict on campus when it comes to drinking and drug use. The students' safety is definitely a main priority of the campus police. There have been a few situations in the dorms where some noise violations or other violations have been overlooked or have gone unnoticed.

Campus Housing: Campus housing is pretty great. Living on campus will definitely help with making friends, creating new relationships, and getting involved with stuff on campus.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: There is a fair amount of diversity at NMU. All lifestyles are extremely accepted and respected at NMU too.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining is excellent. There are plenty of restaurants that offer discounts to students. The biggest obstacle a student may face is actually get to the restaurants, if they don't have a car or a friend with a car. There are plenty of places that will deliver, which is very convenient.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The athletics at NMU are great and very welcoming. There is more then enough to be involved in.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The two campus shuttles are very helpful.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drugs are okay at Northern just because alcohol is easy to get if you know some people and I'm not going to lie but stoners always come at night for food.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is okay, because you can always win a parking pass which means one year of free parking.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Our school isn't "strict" at all. The only time is would be strict is when there is drug use in the dorms.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The food at the MP is okay but it's not the best. They do have Gluten free or even vegan options but students do work there, so like I said it's not the best but it is bearable.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The dorms are kind of old, but it gives a charm to the school. The traditions are amazing, each hall has their own.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Campus life is amazing at Northern, there are things to do like go to the beach.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: I love Marquette. It gives a local charm to the small town feel. I will defiantly live there in the country by one of Michigan's lake.
