Academics: Not Much Experience Yet – I have only had 1 year at NCSU since I transferred to this awesome school. I can say you will always be busy with school work though and the professors are great.

Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: Im not sure what its like to live on campus or in the dorms. I never did so myself while attending the university. However, off campus housing is nice in the area and reasonably priced.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Dining: Variety but Wish There Was More – There was a few food options on campus while I attended school. The university has recently redone one of the biggest buildings to get food and the variety is improving a lot. They are also in the process of remodeling and expanding the student center so I can only imagine that the options would continue to increase.

Academics: Tough but Good – school at nc state can be very difficult depending on your major. the professors really know their stuff and are interested in the topics that they teach. most are very willing to spend extra time with students to help them better understand the material they cover.

Nightlife: The World Is Your Playground – Honestly, you can do anything around campus to have fun. For example, during my sophomore year, my roommate and I were bored since we weren't old enough to party, so we decided to explore campus at night. We had a blast, climbing on our mascot statues, dancing in the fountains, painting the free expression tunnel and leaving our mark on campus!

Academics: Teachers Are Friends – I haven't met one teacher during my two years of attending NCSU that has not overwhelmingly fulfilled their occupation. Each teacher I have taken has been so passionate as to what they are teaching. Through their passion, I feel comfort and a desire to understand what they are teaching me.

Local Atmosphere: Southern Comfort – NCSU is not far from the infamous downtown Raleigh, the capital of the state of North Carolina. Raleigh has everything to offer from southern comfort restaurants to high class clubs to art museums to cow farms! We honestly have it all.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial Aid is handed out readily and I was offered a decent amount. There aren't as many scholarships as I would have hoped but there are some. If you want financial aid, be sure to contact your financial aid officer on a moderately regular basis.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are a significant number of white students at NC State, but there are also a large number of different racial backgrounds represented. Economically speaking, some students barely get an education because the only way they can pay for school is by searching for scholarships, grants, and financial aid, while others can pay the 80 grand as if it is pocket change. The majority though have relatively average income and pay some while doing some research for student loans, financial aid, grants, and scholarships. NC State is very religiously diverse, educating students ranging from athiests and agnostics to Bible-believing Christians.

Academics: The course load is difficult but the professors and guidance counselors are more than happy to work with the students to help them achieve their goals academically and professionally. The facilities are top-notch being some of the most advanced in the country. There are some internships but not as many as other majors simply because a job in the field of meteorology is hard to come by, but the staff does everything they can to help out those students showing interest in beginning a professional career, going above and beyond the in-class course requirements.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Go Pack – We might not always win, but we always give it our all.

4 College Junior

Academics: People at State are usually friendly, but very much into their science or engineering classes. The humanities has quality professors, but there is not as much in those departments. If your in the sciences, though, I would encourage you to explore all your options. There is a wonderful food science department, business school, and plenty of professors to do research with. Make sure to seek out opportunities that will land you a job, because there are tons of ways to get connected with a company here at State.

Drug Safety: Choose the Right Peers – As long as you hang out with peers that are like minded and you don't try to act like somebody you aren't then you should have no trouble staying out of the drug and drinking scene.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Food Courts – It's generic campus food, not much flavor throughout the dishes; but, this is to be expected because they are making the food for a wide variety of people who might not like herbs and spices (my friend is one of them).

5 College Freshman

Academics: Not only is the school very accepting of diversity in its student body, it also has strong programs in almost any field you could imagine.

1 Recent Alumnus

Greek Life: The greek houses look like office buildings. They started to remodel greek court by slowly building an actual house for each sorority/frat but it is a very slow process.

3 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: Seems like most college settings. There are houses and apartments close by. Some are pretty expensive and some are pretty cheap. You just have to shop around to see what's best for you.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academics: NC State is known for its science programs and I can see why. They are very challenging but they provide exactly the education I would hope to get out of a college degree. I worked my butt off to make grades but in the end I learned a lot.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Not Strict – The school is pretty lenient regarding punishment for underage drinking. After a while, there will be consequences, but right off the bat - nope.

4 College Junior

Computers: Technology Is Modern – NC State University is a very modern campus with very modern technology. The computers are up to speed and readily available at many convenient access points across campus.

4 College Junior

Academics: School of the Future – Although I'm a humanities major, I chose to attend NC State University in order to immerse myself in an intellectual environment consisting of real-world, practical, innovative courses of study. The campus is modern, the professors are talented, and the school spirit is incredible.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: I don't think it's a very important topic on our campus, but the guys & girls on our campus are average compared to other universities.

Off-Campus Dining: Dining in Raleigh – Hillsborough Street in Raleigh has a variety of restuarants that are affordable and offer student discounts. It is very convenient and is just a short walk from campus.

Academics: I am an Accounting major in the Poole College of Management, and it is a wonderful program. The workload is heavy, but reasonable. The professors use their personal experiences to teach us how things are done in the real world. There is a career service to help us find future jobs and internships. Overall, it has been a great experience.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Normally Sunny in Raleigh – Aside from how humid it can get, on the typically sunny day, you can find tons of people walking around campus either laying out, playing volleyball, or any other outside sport. The campus is filled with space for activities, shade for relaxation, and sport courts to get in the game.

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
