Weather: North Carolina weather is always different. Somedays there will be sunshine and then the next day there is rain. You never know what you are going to get.

Campus Housing: Dorm Room – I have a great time living on campus. I have met some really interesting people from different areas. I have one girl who is straight from China living next door to me. It is a great opportunity to meet new people living on campus.

Health & Safety: Safe as Safe Can Get – State has one of the best Health and Safety Centers. I get escorted from my dorm to my night classes and do not have to worry about someone attacking me.

Overall Experience: Good teachers. Good food. Not a lot to do for students under 21. Only thing to do on weekends is parties

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Dining Halls – Lots of variety. Healthy options. Different food everyday for lunch and dinner. The food is pretty good.

Facilities: NC State is by far one of the most diverse schools on the east coast! We have so many unique student organizations. The GLBT(gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual)center, MENASA(Middle East and North African Student Association, and Black Student Board are just a few. At NC State we also have the freedom expression tunnel where students are encouraged to express themselves through spray painting the tunnel

Overall Experience: New Home – NC state has been great its like a second home for me. i'm from PA and the locals down here are so welcoming and I hope to live down here in Raleigh after I graduate! GO PACK!

Transportation: wolfline is free and triangle transit passes are free. you should never pay for transportation

Majors: Pre-Vet Courses – I am completing the prerequisites for the DVM program at the College of Veterinary Medicine, and doing so while in a full-time position in Greensboro, NC; so I am quite busy trying to get everything done. For the most part, the courses I need are offered online through distance education, but there are several that I wish were more readily accessible to adult students like myself. I enjoy the courses that I am taking, mainly b/c I know that once completed I will be that much closer to my career goals. I do wish more lab and problem sections were available through distance education for the sciences that I am taking, it would make life much easier for me, and many adult students.

Academics: Overall I am satisfied with the academics so far at NCSU. I am only taking online courses at this point and I am impressed with the wide variety of technology used to deliver course materials, the accessibility of most professors is great and workload is quite manageable as long as you are good with your own time management. I do wish that a few more pre-vet course were offered through distance education, namely microbiology lab section, genetics and biochemistry.

Local Atmosphere: Raleigh Activities – Overall, there are plenty of things to keep you active in Raleigh. They have a great selection of restaurants, mainly great vegetarian options, which is what I love. Also there are fun bars, good museums and the state fair comes to Raleigh every October.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: IS Major – The teachers and the advisors for IS majors are amazing. They are always willing to help students and find new opportunities for them. The classes that we take vary from science to arts and language classes and that is probably my favorite part of the curriculum. The classes broaden students views of life itself.

Weather: It is very humid and can be very very hot. Mostly acceptable or pretty nice though and will get used to it after a while.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Large library and adding another soon! The food choices on campus are pretty good with some variability. The athletic center is great with many weight lifting rooms and plenty of different activities to do. Lots of campus activities always going on and the campus movie theater is great.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Not Much Experience Yet – I have only had 1 year at NCSU since I transferred to this awesome school. I can say you will always be busy with school work though and the professors are great.

Campus Housing: Im not sure what its like to live on campus or in the dorms. I never did so myself while attending the university. However, off campus housing is nice in the area and reasonably priced.

Campus Dining: Variety but Wish There Was More – There was a few food options on campus while I attended school. The university has recently redone one of the biggest buildings to get food and the variety is improving a lot. They are also in the process of remodeling and expanding the student center so I can only imagine that the options would continue to increase.

Academics: Tough but Good – school at nc state can be very difficult depending on your major. the professors really know their stuff and are interested in the topics that they teach. most are very willing to spend extra time with students to help them better understand the material they cover.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: The World Is Your Playground – Honestly, you can do anything around campus to have fun. For example, during my sophomore year, my roommate and I were bored since we weren't old enough to party, so we decided to explore campus at night. We had a blast, climbing on our mascot statues, dancing in the fountains, painting the free expression tunnel and leaving our mark on campus!

Academics: Teachers Are Friends – I haven't met one teacher during my two years of attending NCSU that has not overwhelmingly fulfilled their occupation. Each teacher I have taken has been so passionate as to what they are teaching. Through their passion, I feel comfort and a desire to understand what they are teaching me.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Southern Comfort – NCSU is not far from the infamous downtown Raleigh, the capital of the state of North Carolina. Raleigh has everything to offer from southern comfort restaurants to high class clubs to art museums to cow farms! We honestly have it all.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Financial Aid is handed out readily and I was offered a decent amount. There aren't as many scholarships as I would have hoped but there are some. If you want financial aid, be sure to contact your financial aid officer on a moderately regular basis.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are a significant number of white students at NC State, but there are also a large number of different racial backgrounds represented. Economically speaking, some students barely get an education because the only way they can pay for school is by searching for scholarships, grants, and financial aid, while others can pay the 80 grand as if it is pocket change. The majority though have relatively average income and pay some while doing some research for student loans, financial aid, grants, and scholarships. NC State is very religiously diverse, educating students ranging from athiests and agnostics to Bible-believing Christians.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The course load is difficult but the professors and guidance counselors are more than happy to work with the students to help them achieve their goals academically and professionally. The facilities are top-notch being some of the most advanced in the country. There are some internships but not as many as other majors simply because a job in the field of meteorology is hard to come by, but the staff does everything they can to help out those students showing interest in beginning a professional career, going above and beyond the in-class course requirements.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Go Pack – We might not always win, but we always give it our all.

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
