Drug Safety: I hear very little about drug use on campus. No one has ever approached me about them. Obviously there are people who drink and smoke, but there are dry dorms and no smoking within 25 feet of any building pretty much.

Scholarships: I received a small amount of financial aid, but the interest rate that would come with it was higher than one I would get from a bank. There for we chose not to accept the aid.

Parking: Permits are high and you can't really park on campus. Also the lots are so far from main campus you'll have to take the bus or just walk 30 mintues or more.

1 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Sometimes the food is good but I don't always know exactly what the dish is. It may be because NC State dinning needs to please each race sometimes but as a African American I'm not used to every type of food. But the food gets old at times, breakfast is always the same.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a variety of restaurants around the campus. Most are pretty expansive but you can find a few that are worth it. There are plenty of dining opportunities both on campus and near campus

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I am only a freshman in college but from my experience the campus parking police are some of the harshest. My roommate has already received seven parking tickets in only her first semester.

5 College Freshman

Majors: It really depends on your specific major, but for my particular major, Paper Science and Engineering, I was heavily recruited. I was contacted my administrators and invited to events to explore the program and different opportunities exclusive to the paper industry. I understand that for different majors within the College of Engineering there is heavy competition to get into certain programs and certain requirements have to be met.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of really good restaurants just across the street from campus.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Love the athletics here at State. The Carmichael facility is great and the IM leagues are well run. Plus the Varsity teams are great to watch. You can sign up to play just about anything as well.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The police force on campus does their job well, just don't make dumb decisions like drinking or smoking in your room and things like that. If you're careful about things then you should be fine and they'll leave you alone.

4 College Freshman

Majors: If I had to pick again, I would do the exact same thing. I have had a great experience studying applied math so far, and I am sure it will only become more exciting and rewarding in the future.

5 College Freshman

Academics: I am an applied math major, and so far it has been a great experience. I enjoy my professors and have gotten to know some of them through office hours or meetings. They are both knowledgeable and approachable, both if you need help or a favor. The small size of the college provides a tight-knit feel within the big school that I really appreciate. I hope to stay in contact with my teachers in the future.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I have found a distinct difference even in just my first semester at NC State between the passion of the professors. They love what they teach and they do their best to inspire their students to do the same. I know my professors got through to me, which helped me stay more interested in their classes and ultimately get better grades.

Off-Campus Dining: I think that there is a sufficient number of options for off-campus dining. Hillsburough Street is full of wings, pizza, and chinese places that are great and convenient for college students. Those who prefer to make their own food or like more organic options can always go shopping at one of the multiple nearby shopping malls, which include stores such as Whole Foods and Harris Teeter.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: There are very nice machines in the gym. The pool is in great condition too. Campus events and traditions are very popular and always organized well. Student hangout spots, like the brickyard, are in good condition. Some bricks could be replaced. The library has many nice macbook's which are very popular for students to use.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: There is no policy enforcement from what I have seen. The drug and alcohol use is not completely visible, but obvious that some students are using. Peer pressure is only caused by friends, no one else.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: There are many nice facilities, especially in the gym. There are so many opportunities to join clubs and there are so many different ones! The social scene is also very good, a lot of students seem to know each other from high school but not all of them.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: The Carmichael Gym is full of so many opportunities to get involved physically. There is many types of exercise classes that will fit every person. The libraries on campus are amazing. They have places to get food, coffee, ice cream, study spots, and a wide variety of books. The traditions on campus are amazing. There is a book called the Brick that they give you with all the traditions on campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many good places to eat off campus. Hillsborough Street is full of many different types of restaurants including sushi spots, mexican, chinese, and so many other types of cuisine.

College Junior

Nightlife: I honestly don't know much about the night life. After a club meeting I'm a regular on Skype and Netflix.

Facilities: My school has a lot of ways for struggling students to get free help. There are tutors, SI, tutoring lab, and of course the office hours of the professor. You always have some help available to you, and your advisers also help you out as much as they can. There are many clubs, and sometimes its hard to choose just a few, and many of them help the community in some way as well. Another great thing is that joining the right clubs will keep you updated on information like scholarships, internships, and up coming events.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I have not had an internship but I plan on having one soon. I do not have very many concerns in finding an internship because I am only a freshman and am currently interviewing for an internship this upcoming summer. I have worked and am currently working for Vector Marketing.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Receiving admission into the Poole College of Mangement at NC State was relatively difficult this year. The admissions representatives wanted to see GPA's of 4.0 or better. They were also wanted to see a variety of extra-curricular activities and see evidence for leadership potential. The application process was very efficient and simple. Make sure you have a wide variety of extra-curriculars, and competitive GPA, and a relatively high SAT or ACT score. Try to get a 1700 or better if you take the SAT.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I feel very accomplished and well privileged to be apart of the Poole College of Management at NC State. I enjoy the program so far because I have built many relationships and being apart of the college of management at NCSU allows me to affiliate myself with a wide variety of job and internship opportunities.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I have only completed one semester at NC State but so far I am satisfied with the program. I had great professors in my classes this fall and learned alot of information in a wide variety of subject areas. I also had very helpful and instructional professors who wanted students to do well in their classes. I attended the career fair this semester and was very impressed with NC State's connection to a wide variety of successful companies both domestically and internationally.
Currently, I plan on going into some type of business that will have a large impact on of the lives of others. I enjoy helping other people and want to use my knowledge and skills to give back to my community. I believe I will accomplish this goal through starting a non-profit organization, owning my own business, or through some sort of sales.
I have some concern that I may have trouble finding a job in my field.

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
