5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I feel right at home :)

4 College Junior

Weather: You will definitely see a variety of weather here in Raleigh, North Carolina but on a good average day you can take a hammock out to the lake and relax.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Mostly the Greek Life is stuck up and preppy, parties alot, and is super preppy and pretentious, which is very similar to our rival school UNC. Those involved with religious organizations on campus tend to be generally very friendly. You can definitely tell a Design/Textiles major apart from an Engineering student here. There is an interesting mix of artsy/fashion students, business professional students, and redneck students here.

Overall Experience: The overall experience has been enjoyable and there have been lots of fun activities to do on campus practically anytime I wanted to be social. My only regret has been living in University Housing for so long. The rules are not enforced and it is truly unfortunate for those of us who actually follow them. It would be nice if the dorms were renovated.

Facilities: Everything is Great! Go Pack!

Scholarships: I wish I had more knowledge about scholarships throughout the year. I only get them through my specific College here.

Campus Dining: University Dining does a great job spicing things up! With new additions like Talley Student Union Phase I and On The Oval, anyone with or without a meal plan has easy access to delicious & affordable food! These places include unique and original to NC State dineries like Tuffy's Diner & Los Lobos, but also include fan-favorites such as Jason's Deli and Chick-fil-a. And University Dining is always working to add more variety such as Phase II and Phase III of Talley which will include Around-the-World cuisine, a sit-down restaurant, and a Starbucks!

Campus Strictness: Average Strictness. Sometimes it is very frustrating when policies are not enforced. I have been in several instances here on campus where I did not feel like the policies were being followed and were being bent for certain students. For my personal safety, I wish residence hall policies were more enforced.

Health & Safety: Overall the health center and the police force get the job done. I do wish the security rides home would come faster though.

Local Atmosphere: Raleigh is the best! With events like First Friday, that open up local bars, restaurants, and art galleries the first of every month, it really breeds a community of well-educated and cultured individuals who like to have fun. There is also a good variety of restaurants and shopping to be done in downtown, mid-town, and north Raleigh. Small town living is also not far away. You could take a Sunday afternoon drive through the country in about 30 minutes.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: You can either have a big room far away from your classes with no elevator or you can have a small room with an elevator close to classes. You cannot have both.

1 College Junior

Parking: The parking cost is outrageous especially because they give more parking permits than can fit in the parking lots they provide. It is not worth the money.

Off-Campus Dining: University Dining does a great job spicing things up! Athletics: Football and basketball games are huge social events. Tailgating is the highlight of the year. There is also a variety of intramural sports to participate in.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: If you live on Hillsborough Street there are locations that are walking distances, but for the most part people are driven downtown. There is a night bus available but it does not run frequently enough to be worth taking.

5 College Junior

Academics: Professors teach real world applications to what is being taught in class and are always willing to help.

4 College Junior

Academics: I have enjoyed all the general education requirements outside my major.

5 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life growing exponentially as new fraternities and sororities are being added every year and new houses are being built for each chapter.

Drug Safety: Parties are abundant in Raleigh, but there are a variety of clubs and organizations to join so if drinking is not your thing -- you will not be left out.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: There are a variety of dorm styles to choose from so I would tour the campus to find out what would work best for you.

4 College Junior

Weather: The campus has brick walkways so if it is raining, make sure you are wearing the right shoes or you will slip.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Hillsborough Street that is parallel with the campus has great dining location that are in walking distance.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The guys on campus are friendly and interested in meeting new people.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Talley Student Union is being renovated and will be open soon. The dining locations are already open and are awesome.

4 College Junior

Transportation: The Wolfline can be a pain at times, but there is an app for you phone that will show you all the busses in a live feed.

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
