4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: At first, I hated that we had to complete the Alcohol EDU course because I thought it was silly and a waste of time, but I really think it's wonderful that NCSU is so vested in the safety and well being of their students.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Raleigh is great, but I'm a country girl. I prefer tobacco fields, tractors, and pasture to all the concrete, cars, and people!

5 College Junior

Athletics: I love the football games

5 College Junior

Weather: Haha. Raleigh weather is so bi polar

4 College Junior

Drug Safety: Ehh we can do better

5 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: I love the culture of campus

4 College Junior

Nightlife: I love downtown. Go to the fox

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: I find it to be a pretty chill campus. Unless it endangers other students, they are pretty lenient.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are very few problems on campus, the occasional graffiti or mugging, but never anything very serious.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: While at first glance NCSU doesn't seem very diverse, it really is, especially in religion and sexual orientation.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Raleigh is great. It's beautiful, diverse, and very cultured.

3 College Freshman

Computers: I hate that they charge you to print. The network is usually pretty reliable.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Inside, the weather has no effect. Walking to class, that's where things are affected. Rain will ruin the day.

4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Despite knowing many who do pot or drink, I'd say it's a very safe campus. They know what they're doing and are careful.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Some professors are better than others, some are worse. You've just gotta be lucky and careful.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am not involved, though I know many are involved and are satisfied.

4 College Freshman

Majors: As an English major, I find NCSU (a school traditionally geared to the sciences) a surprisingly excellent school for English students.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I encountered no difficulties. I transferred to an English degree after being accepted.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: It's a very wonderful place to live. Can be a bit difficult if you're transitioning from a very different place- such as the west coast- but it's truly lovely and welcoming, with loads of things to do.

Computers: The library has all types of computers available for student use. I never had a problem finding one to use.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: The professors all deeply care about student's learning. Curriculum is rigorous for most classes and workload is heavy but definitely manageable.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: It seemed like the school lived and breathed sports. Not really my thing.

College Sophomore

Nightlife: To be real, I never really partook in many activities like these.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Free shuttle and free bus around the city?MAJOR HELP!

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: It's no secret that it's a mostly white school, but there is still a good deal of diversity and different ethnic groups are represented.

Overall, the students' experience with NCSU is that it provides them with a rich learning environment. Students learn to balance play and work. Some come to NC State because of family tradition, to get away from the cold, or because of the College of Engineering-but whatever the reason is for the individual, positive feedback always finds its way out. Professors at the University will go above and beyond their call of duty. You make lifelong friends, and you have a huge list of organizations to partake in. Whether you're involved in a college sport, student government, or the Agribusiness Club, you will find your niche here among the thousands of students. Some professors will take you under their wing, and you will learn enormous amounts of information from them. These professors will also become lifelong connections who will probably end up writing letters of recommendation for you when it is time for you to find a job.

NC State wants its students to succeed not only in academics, but in life, too. Here you learn important lifelong skills that are essential to your survival in the real world. Classes can be rigorous and stressful, but students find a way to overcome hardships and get through. Professors will push you to do your best, but at the same time, they understand what it was like to be a student. NC State will help you become an expert in your subject of choice, and with the large number of students, you will come out of college ready to work in some of the most diverse settings.
