Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus, although I do not believe security is fit enough for its job.
Health services are amazingly convenient though.

Health & Safety: I love that we have round-the-clock security on campus and on call 24/7. I don't love how long it takes them to respond sometimes.

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on the Newberry College Campus. Security is always out and about along with police. There are always there if you need them. I would though leave doors locked, but that is any college campus you go to.

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe while on campus. The security guards make themselves known and seen around campus. They have a variety of vehicles and patrol at all times. They also are good about sending out many emails if anything out of the ordinary is occuring. These emails always include telephone numbers that students are strongly encouraged to save in their phones. Students can call these numbers, which all lead to the security offices, for any matter that may arise. Whether a student feels as though they do not want to walk from their room to their car, or vice versa, security will come and walk the students where they need to go.

Newberry College has a great Wellness Center, and the needs of the students are very important. The Wellness Center has one certified medical assistant, and Health Services helps students with physical, academic, emotional, and social development. The Wellness Center also offers counseling with confidential assessments, individual and group therapies, and referrals to other resources on campus and within the community. The director of Counseling Services in the Wellness Center is a licensed therapist with more than 20 years of experience in the mental health field. Security at Newberry is taken very seriously. Their main goal is to enhance the quality of life on campus by working with the campus community to enforce laws, preserve the peace, help build self confidence, and work to provide a safe and secure environment on campus. Security is on campus 24 hours a day working hard to ensure your safety. Located in the freshman residence hall, security helps students by giving out their phone numbers in case of emergency and will provide an escort if you're injured or uncomfortable walking in the dark.
