Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Apply early! If you don't get in, don't get discouraged. They will work with you and let you know what you need to improve before getting accepted.
  • Do your absolute best in high school and get involved. The more extracurricular activities the better.
  • Start looking for scholarships ASAP. The more money you receive the less you have to pay in the future. Every little scholarship can help lower your tuition cost.
  • Start taking the SAT or ACT as early as possible. Try a little harder each time you take your test because the higher the score the better your chances. There is always room for improvement.
  • Stay calm! Everything will work out. Put forth 100 percent, and things will fall into place.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • A car is very important. Newberry is a very small community, and by having a car, you are able to leave campus whenever you please. Columbia, S.C., is only 45 minutes away.
  • Always have a map on you when you first come to campus. Even though every thing is close together, you can get really confused with names of buildings and where you should be at what time.
  • Be prepared. Have everything you need before moving into your room. You want to make your room feel like home, so don't be afraid to personalize and decorate.
Campus Tours
Campus tours are led by student ambassadors who work for the admissions office. These are students who are excited about Newberry and are willing to talk about their Newberry College experience. They show important buildings such a Holland Hall, Derrick Hall, the library, and dining facilities. Tours usually last approximately an hour depending on the size of the group and questions.
Overnight Visits
A lot of the athletes can host a future student for the night. This is to show the prospective student the ropes and what college will be like when they come. Their responsibility as a host is to show them around campus and bring them every where they go to show them the exciting things Newberry has to offer.
