Student Body: Had to put this under student body, this is a warning.

DO NOT ATTEND. If you are wanting to go to another military school find one besides NMMI. To quote a friend who is in ROTC here and was prior enlisted. "This place combines all the corruptness and BS of the Army that only happens 3-4% of the time and is 100% of the time. The rapes, cover ups, etc are all here and they don't care." The 48% student retention is a true estimate, maybe even high. And the ones who do return absolutely hate this school. This is a 4 year high school and 2 year JC. One of my friends who is in his 5th year at NMMI said these have been the worst 5 years of his life.

Student Body: There are some kids of drug lords here. The officers and NCOs from Dow Hall (ROTC building) even complain about it. The school is incredibly corrupt because they have a biased towards them because they donate a ton of money. Either you are incredibly strict and strait edge here or just don't care. They will make you march if you don't give respect towards these hypocrites that destroy everything the school is supposed to stand for.

Campus Resources: Sometimes the school internet stops working but for the most part it is very reliable

3 College Junior

Student Body: Lots of white kids, Mexicans from Mexico, and Black football players. Three groups make up the three main groups of NMMI, but they usually leave each other alone. There are a few international students here and there but they assimilate into one of the three groups

Career Services: Strong alumni network but little to no career center or job prospects, cadets often feel tossed out with no training of the real world

Academic Experience: The academics at this school have really prepared me for the next level of learning. Here teachers are flexible, yet strict. Our duty is to strive to be the best and learn how to be the most intelligent and honorable soldiers this world will see. Curriculum here is very tough and really takes a lot of time out of your day to keep up. This helps me to manage my time.

Academic Experience: I am currently getting my associates in science. My major will be health and exercise sciences. Classes at the Institute are very challenging. Along with the corps life academics are the most important topics here. This school teaches us how to manage our time while being successful corps leaders. The class material is intense yet very rewarding if you can stick with the amount of time needed to study each day.

5 College Junior

Academic Experience: Many of the instructors are passionate about there work; to teach. The instructors want to help build a base of knowledge for the student--knowledge that is oriented to the students major field of study. Again, many of the instructors are very helpful and understanding, but, what the student has to remember is that it is up to the individual to put enough effort into their studies , to earn the grade. This is where the idea, "that if this is not a military school it is nothing.." comes to mind. If the student is not obedient in their work, then their grade will reflect their effort. As long as students maintain a scenes of honor to themselves; duty to their work; there is nothing they can not achieve.

Student Body: Most of the students here at the institute are hard-working individuals that are here to make the best of their education. The militaristic nature of the institute helps keep strong structure and high moral amongst the corps of cadets and it can be seen through their efforts not only in their academics but as well as their participation in sports and other student-oriented activities!

Academic Experience: I'm a Criminal Justice major, I am able to learn a lot from the experienced teachers. Being at a military school allows me to build up the discipline I may need, as well as learning how to deal under certain stresses.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: My school is uniquely diverse. There are kids from all around the country, as well as from different parts of the world. People who come to this school are able to learn about different cultures and backgrounds that they may have not had the opportunity to do at any other school. All the students at this school have a unique bond because of the pressure that gets put on each student, due to the fact that it is a military school.

Online Courses: There are no online courses at the school I attend. All the classes take place in a classroom setting, where students are able to interact with eachother as well as the teacher.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: The education I am receiving is worth what I am paying. I did not get financial aid because I did not qualify but I was able to get a loan. It would be nice if I could have some extra help finding money to help pay for school.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: If you want to be in the military it would be the school for you to go to to be ready for that career.

4 College Freshman

Campus Resources: The athletic facilities are great places to be. The libraries hold tutors every night during study hall for every student to use at their own disgression

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: Every student is assigned to an advisor who is bound to help the student get the education he or she wants. However, some teachers might make bad judgments or little can be done when this has happened.

5 College Junior

Campus Resources: The athletics provide a very good weight room, libraries also contain many resources and it is possible to do inter-loans with other libraries all around America. The campus activities are very extensive and different from normal colleges. The campus is tended very well

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The academics are very good and college kids are monitored every day. Facilities provided are very good, enough to succeed and the school provides extensive activities for the military.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: Printers are available at many spots on campus and so is very reliable. Computer labs are also present in all academic buildings with wireless internet connections. However, the internet connection might be very slow at times, that makes opening some sites for research just not practical, especially during the night.

5 College Student

Academic Experience: There are many different courses that you can take here at the Institute. The Institute teaches from high school freshman to sophomore in college. The professors are very personable and work one on one with the students. There is tutoring during the mornings and evenings. The registration process is pretty painless and the workload is heavy.

5 College Student

Campus Resources: Here we have an Athletic center, a huge library, many different campus activities like paintball club, and flame guard. We also have a working infirmary which is open 24/7.

3 College Student

Campus Resources: The computer network here is okay. We have problems with the server crashing on occasion due to the high number of cadets on it. On the other hand the accessibility of the computer labs is very high. We are able to access any computer at any time. Tech support is sort of reliable. They have their own hours, it really is a problem when your computer crashes on a day when the IT department is on their day off.

Campus Resources: The New Mexico military institute is big on academics but they really have problems with allowing students to use their time wisely.l

Academic Experience: Not Many Teachers Want to Move to Roswell – There are some wonderful professors. However, there are lot of slots to be filled in a town that not many people would want to live in.This being said there are some amazing teachers here. The American Military History teacher, psychology professor and military science professors are great.

2 College Senior

Online Courses: They Are Hard to Obtain – you have to navigate a lot of beuracracy in order to take online courses
