College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I am in a long-term relationship with my beautiful girlfriend. I'd rather not elaborate on the girls on this campus, only because I'm not searching for one. However, from what I've seen, the amount of girls here correlates to the amount of guys willing to pursue them.

2 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of guys and not many girls. There are certain guys that are attractive in school and are hard to find. Most attractive guys are athletes. The rate of girls in school is low and guys are impressed when they find a girl that is pretty in school. People dress in their own opinion of fashion such as Muslim girls have dress codes because of their religion and other people dress in their own way.

2 College Senior

Guys & Girls: There are very few girls on campus. The girls that are on campus are either very religious and stay with their own nationality or are usually stuck up. Many female students are not very welcoming to meeting new people unless they already know you.

2 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There are barely any girls here. The ratios are a complete joke. I saw a total of 4 girls in my first day. Most Greek parties invite Montclair girls to their parties. A lot of the girls dress in sweatpants and almost all of them play soccer.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Remember that NJIT used to be an all boys school so we're still transitioning from mostly guys to the inclusion of more female students. Every year though, there does seem to be more females entering the school than the previous year. For now though, NJIT is still about 80% male but from what I've seen, the female student body are shown just as much respect.

To put it in a simple way, the average NJIT student does not have a lot of time to contemplate the dating scene. The ratio of guys to girls is about 4 to 1 anyway, so it is difficult to start relationships. As a general rule, the few available women are either shallow and promiscuous or so focused on their studies that they do not have enough time to date. Guys are neither promiscuous nor reserved; they tend to be neutral until an opportunity presents itself.

Students tend to relate well due to similar interests or club involvement. Since NJIT has a very focused curricula, it is easy to relate to another student over a difficult course or a mutual interest not explored by normal academics at NJIT, such as writing or musicianship.

Social Scene
The various fraternities and sororities throw parties every Thursday, and there is a plethora of events on campus for students to relax and enjoy themselves. Outside of this, the social scene is limited to groups of people hanging out, bonded by mutual interest (majors, residence hall, hobby, love of _____, and other such things).
Hookups or Relationships?
With guys outnumbering girls at a 4-to-1 ratio, there isn't an overwhelming number of relationships on campus. Even when students date, it is not, in most cases, serious.
Dress Code
Students are expected to be "decent" for class, which means covering the particular body parts that one would keep covered in any public situation. This means keeping your crotch, buttocks, and breasts concealed from public view. Other than this, there is no rule in place instructing students how to dress.
