College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Everyone is over 21, all drug/alcohol use occurs off campus and is really not a school matter but personal.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Tons of amazing food in Portland. Food carts for the win!

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: We don't have much time for athletics. It would be nice to have something on campus but we really don't have the funding.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: The city bus can get you almost anywhere, but weekend transportation is a little sparse. Biking is super easy though.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: No housing, some use Univ Point with Portland State University

3 College Senior

Facilities: Really an off-campus kind of grad school, but there are still some cool things happening / being organized on campus

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Immediately close options are good but # very limited. A moderate walk, though, brings you to many delightful--& well-known--Portland food carts. Variety, ethnic variations, fresh, affordable.
Portland overall, however, is very well known for its diverse and high quality, often locally-sourced, food/eateries. It's an incredible place for "foodies!" Many fantastic happy hours!

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Though not extremely ethnically diverse, there is plenty of diverse life experience among the students at this school, making for an exciting and eye-opening learning experience.

3 College Senior

Computers: Increased numbers of computers in the library and hallways. They still fill up quickly. However, no clinic-program access in the academic building. Variable internet service (depends on the classrooms). Only two print stations for Macs.

2 College Senior

Parking: Quarterly $100 payments for a parking pass do not guarantee you a spot in the lots. However, this is not usually an issue. Non-permit parking is quite limited and most of those spots have a 2-hour limit, which can lead you to having to change spots throughout the day.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: A variety of folks with myriad interests. Generally those interested in self-development and a healthy, conscious lifestyle.

4 College Freshman

Computers: There are only 3 labs on campus and each have only a few computers.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Great Research Program – The Helfgott research center is state of the art research center for integrative medicine research

Drug Safety: No Pressure Here! All students at this school are adults. Although many social activities take place at bars, everyone is free to make his/her own decision about drinking.

5 College Student

Transportation: portland has excellent transportation and NCNM pays for your transportation.

3 College Student

Overall Experience: NCNM is student friendly, supportive, encouraging.

Off-Campus Housing: Portland's Fun! Housing in Portland is generally quite affordable, considering the city life. Plus, if you are willing to commute a bit more, the rent definitely decreases significantly. Lots of options and all the other schools around help drive demand for available housing.

4 College Senior

Diversity: Portland is not generally considered one of the more diverse cities. However, NCNM constantly raises awareness/acceptance around aspects of race, ethnicity, economics, body size, and sexual orientation.

3 College Senior

Weather: Occasional Grey Days – It's Portland. It can be overcast and drizzling quite often. But, if you get out when the sun's out, it's much more fun!

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: I have'nt noticed too much strictness at the school, everyone seems to know the rules and follow them

4 College Junior

Nightlife: pieres is a bar with five bars within itself, has a country bar, a karokee bar, a hip hop bar and the big bar that has the concerts. also by pieres there is a comedy club that is really fun to go too. Pieres is also close to the school and has a car service just incase you dont want to drive.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Great Community – Although classes are difficult, I love being in school here and enjoy what I am learning.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Although not incredibly diverse (as Portland is pretty homogenous) the community here feels very accepting and there are regular opportunities on campus to learn about appropriate ways in which to approach patients from a variety of different backgrounds.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: The school has a good library with an awesome Rare Book Room. There is also a nice book store for anything you might need while on campus. They are working on adding child care, a student fitness center, and possibly a cafe. The Chinese Garden is also an amazing place to study or relax outside. The NCNM student clinic is very new and provides both naturopathic and Chinese medicine services. There is also a nice food cart with healthy options and outdoor seating.
