Since Muhlenberg expanded and revamped the Wood Dining Commons ("The Wood"), it's harder than ever to escape the Freshman 15. The restaurant functions as an all-you-can-eat cafeteria, equipped with many options that accommodate most everyone’s varying dietary needs (including an extensive kosher section!). The only complaint is that there are few options for vegetarian and gluten-free diets. Otherwise, the restaurant is still the place to go with all of your friends to enjoy a satisfying dinner or to take advantage of the school’s two staples: the eye-boggling dessert stand and the famed frozen yogurt machine. Every Muhlenberg student eventually develops an expert knowledge on good cookies, cakes, and “fro-yo.” With the excitement over the new dining hall, students sometimes forget about Muhlenberg’s other major eatery: the General’s Quarters (GQ). When you're in a rush or if The Wood is closed, the GQ is the place to go. It is a great place for good on-the-go food and is the only dining facility open when students need a late-night snack.
The meal plan uses a “block system” and “dining dollars,” and the amount you have of each depends on the specific type of meal plan you choose. Blocks are only used in The Wood; dining dollars are used in Muhlenberg’s other eateries, including the General’s Quarters (GQ). Aside from The Wood and GQ, another on-campus option includes Sandella's. Many students go to Sandella’s for freshly-made quesadillas, burritos, and flatbread pizzas. The best way to take advantage of Muhlenberg’s dining options is to try everything, and then decide which areas work best for your lifestyle.
