4 College Junior

Health & Safety: The safety services are great. It's one of the safest I would say.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: It gets tiring fast. The variety is very low.

4 College Junior

Facilities: I'm sure the recreational center is one of the nicest in the nation.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The student center is very nice but needs more dining options.

Guys & Girls: There is a lot of acceptance at the school, so you don't have to worry about someone saying something if you're different.

Overall Experience: I love the landscape of Morehead. It is so beautiful. The people are so nice too.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The housing is okay but not great. not too roomy.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: The off campus food is good at first but gets old.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: From what I hear, off campus housing is hard to get.

4 College Junior

Diversity: From my experience, diversity is welcomed here.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Overall, campus strictness is fairly good.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a handful of small family owned restaurants, including the Fuzzy Duck Cafe (personal favorite), La Finca's (mexican), two italian restaurants, and another cafe. There is also a japanese restaurant, and many fast food places. I haven't tried it yet, but many people rave about how good Root-A-Bakers is. Costs are average.

Campus Dining: The ADUC food court is inconveniently closed after 3, and isn't open at all on the weekends. Many people I've talked to find this irritating, since the quality of Beakers food is not always the best. Beakers is open till 8 on most nights. There food is either a hit or miss..some nights they don't have much to offer and the food quality is bland/overcooked/undercooked, or they have nights with an abundance/variety of food that is cooked well. It seems that the staff really steps up their game when it is a holiday or there are major campus events going on.

Athletics: I personally am not a huge fan of sports, but it seems that it's a fairly popular part of campus life, with a decent amount of school spirit, but definitely nothing over the top.

Majors: I am majoring in Psychology, which MSU is known for. They have an excellent board of professors for the Psychology Department, with a variety of teaching styles. The workload/curriculum is challenging but fair, and I have enjoyed most of my classes so far. Many workshops are hosted throughout the year, which is nice.

College Junior

Majors: I have not interned yet.

Campus Housing: I lived in Cartmell Hall for the past two years, and it is an utter fiasco. Do not sign up to be placed in that building unless you want to be waking up at odd hours of the night from a fire alarm, numerous times a year. Sometimes we would have to wait outside for up to an hour. We were probably sent out due to a fire alarm around 15-20 times this past school year. It's ridiculous. Cartmell elevators are very fast but break down several times throughout the year also. I look forward to living in a more updated building this year, Alumni Tower. There is wifi available, and supposedly nicer rooms and bathrooms overall. The housing process is a little unorganized and crowded, even though they try to do their best.

Local Atmosphere: My best description of Morehead would be that is an isolated, sleepy little town. The best things to do off campus are either go to Lockegee, Cave Run, or go out to eat and maybe hit the local (tiny) movie theater. I've grown tired of the area, but some people don't. It's also a major deal if you have a car. If you don't have a car to get away from campus, you'll lose your mind. Anything that feels like real civilization is about an hour away. There's no nice shopping malls, just a couple of strip malls which are okay. Cultural events seem to be average..local parades, food, arts & crafts by local merchants..but these events happen only a few times a year. Safety seems to be very good on campus, there are always cop cars patrolling, especially at night. There are also several call towers placed across campus in case you're in an emergency.

Facilities: Personally I have grown tired of the isolated location of Morehead, and there is only so much to do there. Winters there are miserable, the whole campus dies down and hibernates, it's rare an activities are going on during this season of the year..I've considered transferring for these very reasons. Other than that, the Recreation and Wellness center is a nice place to get away to, and the facility itself hosts an abundance of classes and areas for different activities. The equipment is up-to-date as well.

Facilities: It seems that if you are not a part of Greek Life, it is hard to meet a nice network of friends. If you want a fun social life, you most likely will need to join a sports team or go Greek. I almost joined a Greek organization but decided against it because of costs and pressure. I honestly don't pay attention to campus traditions or anything like that..it seems that Homecoming is the biggest event of the school year. The library is in a beautiful building with a good amount of technology and materials offered. Eagle Lake is a beautiful landscape to escape to, and it's convenient since it's located on campus. I'm also very happy that Morehead State has embraced a "green" movement with newly placed recycling bins all around dorms and campus walk-ways.

Scholarships: I have received most of the Financial Aid I need, but have had issues with a "student verification process" for the longest time. It is a very confusing ordeal and the staff at Enrollment Services/Financial Aid has not reached out to me personally, I only receive emails asking for forms and what they need, over and over again. I've called and been met with either staff who seems rushed to get you off the phone and not offer additional help, or staff that isn't all too eager to help walk you through the process. Also, they never tell you WHY you are selected for the process, or give you deadlines on when they need everything to be submitted. So while I've been trying to figure things out on my own, I honestly feel like they leave you out in the dark. Details are needed, more details.

Diversity: There is a wide range of diversity on campus. I see many people of different ethnic backgrounds such as Saudi-Arabians, Asians(not sure of the specifics, i.e. Japanese, Chinese, etc.), and African Americans. It's a great mixture and I've even met one person from Uganda I think, and another who was Native American. Something I find that bothers me a little bit is that most people seem to spend time mostly with there race of people; in other words people of all these different ethnicity don't seem to intermingle much.

College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I've never applied for off-campus living so I wouldn't know.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Very safe campus, Police are always driving around to make sure that the campus is safe

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: The greek life is very active on campus. The fraternity's throw great parties on thursday nights.
