3 College Junior

Nightlife: I don't usually go out but there are a lot of places to go in Asheville which is about 20 minutes away.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I do not participate in much of the "night life" but the people that do seem to enjoy it off campus.

5 College Junior

Nightlife: The night life is in a safe area in Black Mountain, NC. They have a few bars that are great places to check out.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Depends on what circle you are in. Who do you want to be?

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Dry Campus – The campus is against any students drinking or partying. It is against all rules on campus. However, some students on campus throw parties but that can have serious consequences. Students do go to clubs in Johnson City, Charlotte, or Asheville just to have a good time and dance and hang out with friends.

Nightlife, in the form of bars and clubs, is nonexistent in Montreat. Students wanting a drink have to head to Black Mountain, a tiny neighboring town just minutes from the College. Those seeking a party scene, though, drive 20 minutes to Asheville, for the most part, though occasional parties happen at the houses of off-campus and former students. Montreat is a dry campus, so no alcohol is permitted on the grounds.

Many students at Montreat find the 20-plus-minute ride to Asheville well worth it for new scenery and a night away from school and drama; many go clubbing, while others simply want a good brew with good company. An eclectic city, Asheville is the place for both. Groups at Montreat often spend a few nights partying during the semester, especially as a welcome break after tests or before finals. Those just looking for a good drink go to a number of locations in Black Mountain and Asheville, to restaurants, bars, and the "Brew and View" (Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company). The under-21 crowd can be found (with many drinking-age students) at Denny's, a favorite student hangout, or at the Creatures Café, a Christian alternative nightclub that serves "mocktails" and other refreshments.
