4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Most everyone is Christian but not everyone. There are some gay couples and some very liberal people but overall it is a conservative college.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: A lot of serious couples and then a lot of high school type flirting.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: We do no have frat houses or sororities at my college.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I do not participate in much of the "night life" but the people that do seem to enjoy it off campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: It is strict enough to where campus life is enjoyable and safe but no so strict that people feel like the college is their mom.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: A lot of people like to go to the games but since we are such a small school it isn't like everyone revolves around them.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: The off campus dinning has the best restaurants to eat at with great food. The cost of the food is good, and some places gives out student discounts.

5 College Junior

Diversity: This college accepts people for who they are. They accept all ethnic backgrounds, economic backgrounds, political beliefs, religion, and sexual orientation.

5 College Junior

Nightlife: The night life is in a safe area in Black Mountain, NC. They have a few bars that are great places to check out.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Mens and Womens soccer is good, baseball is good, softball is good, basket ball is ok, golf is ok, volleyball is good.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: School is famous for OE department, business is ok, Music is good, phsycology is ok, cross cultural is decent.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: My school is renowned for my major. Excellent program, good professors.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: there are several options nearby, if you go to black mountain there are even more and loads in asheville but thats 30min. away.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Depends on what circle you are in. Who do you want to be?

1 College Senior

Campus Strictness: You are there for education. And education only. Spend your time wisely. Don't do anything to jeopardize your education

College Junior

Weather: The campus is small so even when it is raining it is not too bad when walking back and forth to buildings.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: Athletic and academic scholarships are available as well as the Keystone scholarship

College Junior

Transportation: The school is in a rual area so a car is important to get to town

4 College Junior

Computers: We have computers on campus; however, sometimes we do not have enough computers in the labs for all students in a class to use.

1 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Howerton rooms are small and have mold. Davis rooms are bigger and cleaner, but the residents are louder.

1 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Campus police are a joke. Homeless man on campus walked into the women's dorm twice. Much theft all semester and the campus police still haven't solved the case, just charged someone after their disgruntled roommate made up lies. No evidence? No problem. School disciplinary hearings are a joke too!

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Im at the Charlotte Campus an Charlotte has dinning to meet any budget or taste...

1 College Junior

Athletics: We do not have athletics at this locations. I wish we did because i would love to be in a caviler uniform for basketball or another sport.

5 College Junior

Transportation: The school is adequately located in the center of uptown and easy to access when you get into town. There is no transportation provided by the school .We are all adults and should be able to find our own way to school. If you can't get to school here you are out of luck.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: With only about 500 traditional students I would say that a large percentage are of the minority.

Montreat isn't just an education—it's an experience. The classes are informative, taught by knowledgeable faculty who truly care about the welfare of the students. The staff is helpful, as well. Before school starts, maintenance and housekeeping work full time to prepare the buildings for the students. Administrative staff makes sure Montreat is as welcoming an environment as possible for students, organizing a plethora of activities, including dances and service opportunities for both orientation and the rest of the semester—all while working to make sure students are properly registered. The campus counselor and nurse personally talk to students and their parents about health concerns, including handicaps, allergies, sports injuries, and the best way to manage any health problems while at school. The campus police patrol Montreat to ensure its safety, and the RDs organize meetings early in the semester to go over safety policies; the police come and meet the students so that students know who to look for on campus.

The College’s personal interest in each student’s success is amazing on both an institutional and individual level. When a student misses a class, it is not uncommon for the professor to follow up and make sure the student is OK. The faculty carefully organizes class schedules and curricula to maximize benefits to the students, often asking the students what they want to get out of the class and then helping them achieve those goals, even if it means a deviation from the original schedule. Montreat’s active interest in both the current and future success of students is otherworldly. Superhuman efforts by the staff and faculty have brought about benefits such as in-class writing tutors, internships, and incredible student trips that give students the best that Montreat can offer.
