3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Everyone is different. Most females were yoga pants and sweaters and males wear jean and tshirts. Some people wear their religious clothing or business clothes. Every group has a different look

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Most people at the school are very friendly. It is not that unusual to talk to a random person on the way to class or at one of the stores and make a new friend. For the most part they are very kind and willing to help. Every now and then you will find a rude stuck up girl or the usual guy that will be a jerk. For the most part the people there are good looking. The style of dress is varies not many people pay much attention. You can dress casual, dress up everyday or even wear pajamas.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The guys and the girls in Montclair State University are pretty good-looking, they dress very appropriate when attending class, meeting and more. It's a wonderful university.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Although everyone is different and I don't like to generalize, I have come to the conclusion that most girls on campus are stuck-up, they believe they are better than everybody, but choose not to hang out with those type of people because I am smart enough to know that those people are not worth my time.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Everyone has their own little niche where he or she belongs.

The student population at Montclair is fairly diverse, making it a bit hard to generalize the interactions. The average student is, well, average—not gorgeous but not mousy either, though there are some of both to be seen. People meet friends and other students mostly in class, through organizations, or in on-campus housing; there are also some students here who have known each other since high school. Relationships and hook-ups grow out of these casual friendships, for the most part.

There are more girls than guys here, but since many MSU students live off campus, they are not limited to the campus population for relationships, and the ratio of guys and girls doesn't seem to affect the dating scene at all. Some on-campus residents complain that the dorms seem to be uneven in their male-to-female distributions; however, residents can—and do—date commuters. Sexually promiscuous students are probably in the majority, but many of these students end up in serious relationships in the end. Hookups can be found, as well as drunken one-night stands, but they’re not everywhere.

Social Scene
Students at MSU are fairly outgoing, but the social scene on campus is a bit lacking. The majority of students are commuters, so there may even be more effort to make friends and hang out with them than at schools where everyone lives on campus, but that doesn't necessarily mean hanging out happens on campus here. Many students will go to clubs in NYC or locally, and many go to frat parties at nearby schools. The weekends are fairly dead, but the administration is attempting to hold more events on the weekends to change this.
Hookups or Relationships?
This depends entirely on who you ask, which can only lead to the conclusion that it is about even for both. Many people here are involved in long-distance relationships and many hook-up at every frat party. In the end, whichever one you are looking for can be found here.
Dress Code
For the most part, the dress code at Montclair is pretty relaxed. A lot of students wear jeans and T-shirts, though you will often see girls dressing up their outfits with cardigans and nice shoes. There aren't many on-campus parties, so students often go out to bars, clubs, or New York City, and for these places, students tend to put in more effort, with dresses, high heels, and dress shirts being pretty standard. In the end, though, no one is going to look down on you for what you're wearing as along as it is clean and not too sloppy.
