Campus Strictness: not too strict and not too lenient

1 person found this useful Report

Campus Strictness: Attendance to classes is rarely enforced, but you should go anyways: you're (or your parents) are spending the money and going to lecture will also help you understand more and get better grades. Parking is kind of awful if you don't get to campus early in the morning. I have an SB pass which includes the most parking lots on campus and I still have trouble finding a spot when I get there mid-day. There are also quite a few parking policemen so park without a permit at your own risk and avoid parking in the reserved or handicap spaces unless you want a pretty hefty fine.

Campus Strictness: Life here is ok but god forbid you do something bad because you will pay dearly for it. If you get caught with someone that was drinking you also get in trouble and have to take long classes which you have to pay for.

1 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: There is a ton of alcohol and drug problems in the residence halls and there is very little action taken to stop this generally.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The only thing the bothers me on the campus is the strictness involving quiet hours. Most nights the halls are parting hard and the noise never stops making it difficult to sleep. This lack of sleep can affect academic standings and social crabbiness.

The campus police normally avoid causing problems for students, as long as they are not hurting anyone or being an obvious disturbance. However, anyone can look at the police reports each time the newspaper comes out and read a few sentences about a couple of students walking across campus with open containers of alcohol. A surprisingly high number of students somehow thinks that they can get away with this, and it remains a constant plague on the cops. As long as students are not brazenly breaking the law, they will not get a ticket, just a warning. The campus police are generally good-natured and understand that the trivial little problems students cause will not do any real damage to the campus or its residents.

The RAs tend to be a bigger source of write-ups than the police. While some of them will pretend not to hear the shouts of, "Pass me another beer!" emitting from your room, others are über suspicious. The best way to avoid a trip to the judicial boards is to keep the doors closed and stay relatively quiet while drinking. It is also good to keep in mind that RAs and residents are not allowed to party together, even off campus. Living in the dorms is definitely more restrictive than living off campus.
