Campus Dining: Not the best across campus. They need work!

4 College Senior

Campus Dining: I personally like campus dining.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: It's not too bad, i like it1

1 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I've had SO many issues with the dining. I was put in a freshman apartment because there was no more room in the typical freshman dorms. The apartments are meant for families and married couples so they have kitchens. However, I was not allowed to get out of the meal plan even after meeting with a nutritionist and explaining that the food in the dining hall nearest me was making me sick and I should be able to fix my own food.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There's three dining halls with varying degrees of crappy food and good food. One has good breakfasts, one has good salads, another has good lunches. Better than some dining halls I've been to, but not the best.

Anyone used to gourmet meals should be forewarned: You are in Montana now, so get used to a lot of meat and potatoes. The amazing thing about the cafeterias at MSU is the creativity the workers have in making new dishes out of these two ingredients. There are three dining halls (usually referred to as "food service" by students) on campus, and none are very good. Your two choices when eating at University Food Services are to either eat things that taste good but carry loads of fat and sugar (Freshman 15, anyone?), or eat as healthy as possible but hardly be able to choke down the food. Many students do not find either option terribly appealing. The dining halls all have mediocre salad bars and an all-you-can-eat cafeteria, which usually contain a variety of very bland foods. Vegetarians should also be warned that they will be eating a lot of bagels and quesadillas, as the vegetarian options offered are often worse than the rest of the fare.

For catching a good meal on campus, many students choose Avogadro's Number, a decent wrap restaurant known for its interesting combinations of food, located in the student union. A first-year student's best bet is to choose the five-day meal plan rather than the week-long meal plan. This way, they save money on room and board, and can go out for delicious meals around town on the weekends.
