5 College Sophomore

Parking: Free parking and you don't have to walk far!

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Not really sure, I live in a different town.

College Sophomore

Transportation: I am a commuter, so I really am not sure.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: I was surprised that the campus has computer labs conveniently located around campus. Plus printing is free there!

2 College Freshman

Weather: Midwest weather is terrible and bi-polar. No other comment necessary.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I was given great information and reliable instructions on how to proceed further in the financial aid process.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The amount of computers and availability of lab times is excellent. Speed is not the greatest to deal with but it could be worse.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Rules are set and for the most part enforced.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Violence has been known within dorm buildings but less common elsewhere. Partying is known to be a hobby of other students. This was a reason I moved out of the dorms and off campus. I feel safe just about everywhere on campus. There will be help nearby and in hearing range most of the time.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: For a reasonable and affordable cost, quality is average or below. There are many options with great quality but for a higher cost. There are many options near campus within 10 minute drive and well as shopping, dining and other services.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Extra help and options for tutoring are very known. Curriculum is strict and for the most part followed. There are many areas on campus that allow for quiet places to study. Teachers give a fair amount of homework (that goes along with the curriculum).

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There is much variety and affordable; however, not as healthy as I would appreciate options to be.

College Freshman

Transportation: I live in close proximity of the campus and have not needed to rely on any transportation provided by the campus.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Many tickets are written out. Parking spots fill up quickly. Permit costs are not an issue. Walking is convenient and buildings are not too far apart.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: A majority of students are African American. Missouri Western is very involved with international programs and has much diversity.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Service is excellent and resources are always provided.

College Freshman

Majors: Currently taking general studies; no program acceptance yet.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: They do not constantly try to push people to join nor do they act better than everyone else which is nice.

College Freshman

Nightlife: I say this because in all honesty I have no idea. I do not venture from my dorm room, classes, and work much so I do not know any of the local hangouts or what people do for fun.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The campus is relatively small so you can walk to where you need on campus. Campus however though isn't really that close to any stores or restaurants, so you will need to venture out if you need those things. Taxis will come on campus for pickup and delivery which is nice. The one thing I do not like though is that everyone has a designated parking lot they are allowed to park in and cannot park in any of the others without getting a $25 ticket. If you're running late to class, it would be nice to be able to drive over to your class.

4 College Junior

Diversity: A wide diversity is displayed on campus in a very accepting atmosphere.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: One part of St. Joseph is not in good condition and does not have a good atmosphere. The other part of town has a much better atmosphere with great shopping and food selection and seems generally safer. If you like more spread out areas, St. Joseph is a great town with the norms of a city but not as closely packed together.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Police are seen frequently patrolling campus. Residential assistants keep a tight ship on noise in the dorm, although I know of students who drink and stay in boyfriend/girlfriends' rooms without getting caught.

3 College Junior

Transportation: I have not utilized campus transportation and neither have any students I know, therefore it must not be utilized often at all.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: The automatic scholarships transferred easily and went great. Competitive scholarships are awarded annually in the spring, so as a transfer student starting in the spring, I did not receive any scholarships for the spring semester even though I applied before the deadline nearly a year before. The deadline is also March 1, so taxes must be done before then to submit the FAFSA. So unfortunately, the process for competitive scholarships has proved to be somewhat of a hassle.
