4 College Freshman

Greek Life: They do not constantly try to push people to join nor do they act better than everyone else which is nice.

College Freshman

Nightlife: I say this because in all honesty I have no idea. I do not venture from my dorm room, classes, and work much so I do not know any of the local hangouts or what people do for fun.

Transportation: The campus is relatively small so you can walk to where you need on campus. Campus however though isn't really that close to any stores or restaurants, so you will need to venture out if you need those things. Taxis will come on campus for pickup and delivery which is nice. The one thing I do not like though is that everyone has a designated parking lot they are allowed to park in and cannot park in any of the others without getting a $25 ticket. If you're running late to class, it would be nice to be able to drive over to your class.

4 College Junior

Diversity: A wide diversity is displayed on campus in a very accepting atmosphere.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: One part of St. Joseph is not in good condition and does not have a good atmosphere. The other part of town has a much better atmosphere with great shopping and food selection and seems generally safer. If you like more spread out areas, St. Joseph is a great town with the norms of a city but not as closely packed together.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Police are seen frequently patrolling campus. Residential assistants keep a tight ship on noise in the dorm, although I know of students who drink and stay in boyfriend/girlfriends' rooms without getting caught.

3 College Junior

Transportation: I have not utilized campus transportation and neither have any students I know, therefore it must not be utilized often at all.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: The automatic scholarships transferred easily and went great. Competitive scholarships are awarded annually in the spring, so as a transfer student starting in the spring, I did not receive any scholarships for the spring semester even though I applied before the deadline nearly a year before. The deadline is also March 1, so taxes must be done before then to submit the FAFSA. So unfortunately, the process for competitive scholarships has proved to be somewhat of a hassle.

3 College Junior

Weather: I have a long walk to class, so cold, snowy days call for some serious bundling up. Sledding is a popular social activity when it snows.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus, therefore I am unfamiliar with the off-campus selection. Most of the students in my classes live off-campus, (I've heard only 1/3 of the students live on campus) and they seem to enjoy the places they live, whether apartment or housing.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I am unfamiliar with the Greek life on my campus. This may be due to the fact that I have only lived on campus for a few months now and that the Greeks do not have a huge impact on the school.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: I live in the Griffon dorm, which is about 3 years old. It takes me between 5-10 minutes to walk from the dorm to class as the campus is very spread out. The dorm stays very clean and has an adequate work out area in the lobby. Quiet hours start at 10pm., which people usually follow, making school nights very peaceful and quiet. The housing process was not extremely smooth; I applied at the deadline, November 15 2013, set for housing for the spring of 2014 and was not notified (after I tried to get into contact with the housing department several times) that I actually had a dorm room and the details of it until exactly a week before move-in.

Off-Campus Dining: Not many options are available off campus, the area of St. Joseph the school is in is not a busy part of town. Most of the restaurants around the school are fast food as well a good selection of sit down restaurants. Costs are average price with adequate convenience.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I love my major. I'm currently getting ready for study abroad.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: One of the best with great teaching.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: It's a good balance of big and small city living.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I'm not sure how great the housing options are.

2 College Sophomore

Weather: Weather is always changing so it kinda sucks to walk on campus when you do not know what the weather is going to be like.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Saint Joseph has a ton of restaurants to choose from. Probably too many.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I don't really see any drug problems other than drinking and partying.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: I usually just see kids driving their cars or walking to school.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: We have some scholarships. But I think there could be more.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Missouri Western isn't very strict at all.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The computers work and print well. They could be updated with some new software though. I also prefer apple over pc!

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: theuniversity police take care of all drugs on campus
