3 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: The experience in courses and with professors overall is average but in certain classes it is a lot of fun to learn.

3 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: It all depends on what degree you are pursuing and your major on the prospects you will receive.

3 Recent Alumnus

Student Body: The student body is mainly made up of rural students from the surrounding schools and everyone is accepted into the college.

3 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: The biggest programs at Missouri State University - West Plains is the nursing program and the AA program in academics.

3 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: The associates of art degree gives you some opportunities to go into any other major you are wanting. There are not many other opportunities unless you transfer.

3 Recent Alumnus

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid process is fairly easy to go through but you as a student have to stay on top of it to make sure everything is good.

3 Recent Alumnus

Career Services: The quality of the career center, alumni network, and job prospects are good depending on what your major is such as nursing or in a bachelor of science program.

1 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: Financial aid office is so under qualified.

2 College Freshman

Online Courses: Cheap substitutes of the real thing for mostly non-traditional students.

1 College Freshman

Student Body: Very little activities outside of school. Most people are non-traditional students. After classes the campus is dead.

2 College Freshman

Facilities: There's not a whole lot that distinguishes this school. Many things are sub par and underfunded. If not for donations I don't know how this school would function.

1 College Freshman

Career Services: We get frequent emails from jobs around town. Like Janitor. And farm work. Yay.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Some things have been good, a lot of things have not been.

2 College Freshman

Campus Resources: There's not a whole lot to offer.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Internet is fast, However WiFi is unavailable.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: Come here for the gen eds and then get out. Other than that there's not a whole lot of depth to their other programs as far as I can tell.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: Some of the flexibility offered here is pretty great. I've had many professors work with me around my schedule.

3 College Senior

Facilities: The facilities are OK. Some are a bit outdated, some are a bit more modern.

2 College Senior

Career Services: This isn't the kind of school that you go to to get a job, this is the kind of school you go to to transfer elsewhere. With a degree here you can get a job around West Plains but that's about it.

2 College Senior

Student Body: There's very little school spirit and not a whole lot of diversity. It's just a community college so most of the students are from rural areas nearby. Lots of southern attitudes and conservatism They actually pay people to go watch the games since so few people go. People who get scholarships are actually required to go watch basketball games, which is kind of sad.

Overall Experience: I don't think I would choose it again if I had known how they really are here. They use lots of gimmicks such as red carpet day (beware this) many of the things that they promise and make it seem like are falsifications. They like to advertise their A+ program, but what they don't tell you is that if you qualify for pell grants, you won't even be able to use your A+ at all anyways because pell has to come first and will pay for everything while your A+ lays to waste. I and several other students got screwed over because of this, and I ended up with a couple thousands dollars of debt due to ignorance. An ignorance that they take advantage of. The graduation rate here is only 32% at this time of writing. The few of the people working in financial aid have degrees or are qualified for their positions, and I've had many troubles with them. I've also had many troubles with my adviser who seldom responds to my emails or is in her office. Be aware of flaws like this and know what you are getting into. This school does a good job of covering their flaws and exaggerating their pros. Pat yourself on the back for doing research on this school.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid office is terrible. TERRIBLE. None of the people who even work in there are qualified for their job. The whole thing about "using your A+ to go to school for free" is also a joke if your family is already low income. What they don't tell you is that your pell grant will actually cover all of your costs, so your A+ is worthless. Use your low income pell grant to go elsewhere, don't waste your time coming to West Plains.

3 College Senior

Online Courses: I've had really bad online classes, and I've had some pretty decent ones. I'd say overall though you should avoid them at all costs.

2 College Senior

Campus Resources: Financial aid is worthless. Nobody in there knows what is even going on. I've had so many problems with them. The student rec center is ok. They spent like 3 million dollars or so of our money on a indoor basketball court that nobody even uses. For all things athletic you have to go to the city Civic Center because MSU WP doesn't have anything of their own. The library is grossly underfunded and is very small.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: The network is pretty fast and reliable. There's no wifi for the students which is pretty inconvenient, especially in the 21st century...
