Academic Experience: Come here for the gen eds and then get out. Other than that there's not a whole lot of depth to their other programs as far as I can tell.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: Some of the flexibility offered here is pretty great. I've had many professors work with me around my schedule.

3 College Senior

Facilities: The facilities are OK. Some are a bit outdated, some are a bit more modern.

2 College Senior

Career Services: This isn't the kind of school that you go to to get a job, this is the kind of school you go to to transfer elsewhere. With a degree here you can get a job around West Plains but that's about it.

Student Body: There's very little school spirit and not a whole lot of diversity. It's just a community college so most of the students are from rural areas nearby. Lots of southern attitudes and conservatism They actually pay people to go watch the games since so few people go. People who get scholarships are actually required to go watch basketball games, which is kind of sad.

Overall Experience: I don't think I would choose it again if I had known how they really are here. They use lots of gimmicks such as red carpet day (beware this) many of the things that they promise and make it seem like are falsifications. They like to advertise their A+ program, but what they don't tell you is that if you qualify for pell grants, you won't even be able to use your A+ at all anyways because pell has to come first and will pay for everything while your A+ lays to waste. I and several other students got screwed over because of this, and I ended up with a couple thousands dollars of debt due to ignorance. An ignorance that they take advantage of. The graduation rate here is only 32% at this time of writing. The few of the people working in financial aid have degrees or are qualified for their positions, and I've had many troubles with them. I've also had many troubles with my adviser who seldom responds to my emails or is in her office. Be aware of flaws like this and know what you are getting into. This school does a good job of covering their flaws and exaggerating their pros. Pat yourself on the back for doing research on this school.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid office is terrible. TERRIBLE. None of the people who even work in there are qualified for their job. The whole thing about "using your A+ to go to school for free" is also a joke if your family is already low income. What they don't tell you is that your pell grant will actually cover all of your costs, so your A+ is worthless. Use your low income pell grant to go elsewhere, don't waste your time coming to West Plains.

Online Courses: I've had really bad online classes, and I've had some pretty decent ones. I'd say overall though you should avoid them at all costs.

2 College Senior

Campus Resources: Financial aid is worthless. Nobody in there knows what is even going on. I've had so many problems with them. The student rec center is ok. They spent like 3 million dollars or so of our money on a indoor basketball court that nobody even uses. For all things athletic you have to go to the city Civic Center because MSU WP doesn't have anything of their own. The library is grossly underfunded and is very small.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: The network is pretty fast and reliable. There's no wifi for the students which is pretty inconvenient, especially in the 21st century...

4 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: I had several special accommodations made for me.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: I took all online class my first semesters which was very convenient since I did not have a car at that time, so with the wide variety of class offered online I was able to stay home and do my work and still attend college. The courses were a bit challenging but I was able to manage the work.

Campus Resources: The resources are very great. They have several computers available for student use and the internet connection loads very fast. However, the online blackboard systems often has glitches and some of my professors have to change their schedules because of this.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I chose MSU West Plains because it is a well-known campus and its very close to my hometown. The class schedules are very flexible and the have many classes offered at a wide variety of times.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The facilities on campus are great. There is a Civic Center near the university that has many events every month that are very interesting and enjoyable. The campus is very efficient and has many things offered to its students.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The only reason I chose to attend is the A+ scholarship that Missouri State University - West Plains accepts, which is an amazing financial help. Two years of my schooling here are completely paid for. I did recieve a $250 scholarship from the school, which was also a help.

Student Body: The student body is worse than it was at my high school. Cliques and "popular kids" are rampant. People just hang out with the same kids they hung out with in high school. The same few people are the face of everything. No diversity. Just a bunch of people from the general area. No tolerence for anyone who isn't a conservative or a hick. I haven't made a single friend here.

Academic Experience: Missouri State University-West Plains does not offer the academic rigour that is expected with higher education. Yes, I have learned a few things, but the cirriculum is not much more difficult than that of high school. It is a fine education for someone planning on staying in West Plains for the rest of his or her life, but if you have real aspirations, MSU-WP won't get you there.

3 Recent Alumnus

Academic Flexibility: I am both an employee and full-time student at Missouri State University-West Plains. For my job, I have to travel to surrounding high schools daily and work with the seniors. There may be times where, due to an appointment, I might make it to class late or have to leave a class early. All of my teachers have been incredibly understanding about my schedule and willing to work with me schedule conflicts.

1 College Senior

Career Services: I know most schools do it the same way, but wish people who were not on financial aid could work as well.

1 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I am not able to recieve financial aid, but I do know the Tuition is not as expensive as one might think. With the Missouri A+ program they are paying for your first to years and your pay for your room and board and of course books. BUT a lot of people got there financial aid messed up because of this school

2 College Senior

Online Courses: They throw sooooo much at you and don't know how to use a computer. Not a bright idea!

Campus Resources: Starter College – My school is not a major university and is for two years. It has helped be better prepare myself for a real school.

2 College Senior

Academic Experience: I know it is only a community college but I feel like they could offer more since they are a branch of MSU-Springfield. It would help let people graduate faster and easier.

1 College Senior

Campus Resources: It is a bit of confusion because it feels as if people aren't there for you and you are completely on your own. I WORK HARD but they don't get paid to care
