Campus Resources: This campus has plenty of resources. We have a gym, swimming area, tennis court, cyber cafe, and many more. We have a newly renovated learning lab with tutors available. We have plenty of computer labs available, though printing can be pretty expensive. The campus is generally aesthetically pleasing.

Student Body: The student body at Jefferson Davis is diverse. Many of the students are military and older people returning to school. I have not noticed any challenges at all in regards to diversity.

Career Services: I am currently unfamiliar with career services and cannot accurately comment.

Online Courses: I have taken a few online courses and have had a great experience each time. The instructors are easy to contact and there are usually discussion boards available to contact your peer. The workload in most online classes is easily managed. Most online classes make all the assignments available so you can finish them ahead of time and get them knocked out early!

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid process at MGCCC is a nightmare. I was originally going for the pre-bachelors program for nursing, known as their 2+2 program, where after 2 years you transfer to a university . Then, I found out more about the associates program at JD from a counselor and I had all the prerequisites so I applied and got accepted into the program. I am now a Junior in the program and I am at 117 semester hours with a 3.40 GPA. After 96 hours, you can not get any assistance from financial aid. I went through an appeal process and explained to them that I changed my major and have two more semesters until I obtain my degree. They have denied my appeal. I was a bit perturbed when I found out a former classmate had a similar situation and her appeal was accepted. The only difference between our appeals was the fact that she became pregnant and withdrew from the class. While the tuition is not that high, it can be pretty burdensome when you are enrolled in a program that makes it near impossible to work.

Academic Flexibility: The academic flexibility while taking general classes was alright. I did go to school Tuesdays 0900-1500 and Thursdays 0900-2200 with 3 hours in between while taking an online class to ensure I got the classes I needed. I was still able to work with that schedule so it worked for me. The academic flexibility while in the nursing program is terrible. We are off on Mondays until clinical starts. So we go to school/clinical throughout the week and we are still required to pick up another course to maintain full time which is difficult to do. There are not many classes available that fit into a nursing school type schedule and those that do get filled pretty quickly.

Academic Experience: I am currently enrolled in the nursing program at MGCCC JD. The curriculum and workload are definitely challenging, but the key is to stay on top of things. While in clinical at a couple of local hospitals I have been told that graduate students from our nursing program are some of the best, so with that being said I do believe the job opportunities will be there.

Academic Experience: Most of the instuctors that I have had at MGCCC are awesome! They enjoy teaching and are readily available when needed. The registration process is not really complicated, but the counselors are always there to help should there be any questions. The workload varies depending on the class. We have a learning lab which is extremely helpful for studying. While in chemistry, my classmates and I used the learning lab for study group sessions.

Overall Experience: My overall experience at MGCCC Jefferson Davis campus has been outstanding. The campus is more academic based being that the majority of the sports and student functions are at a different location. There is a newly updated learning lab with staff available to help with any subject. There are plenty of computer labs. The class sizes I have been in range from about 25 to 50. The instructors have office hours posted on their doors if you should need any additional help. Also, at the beginning of the courses the instructor usually provides students with their contact information which I have found to be extremely helpful. The only real issues I have experienced while attending MGCCC is with the financial aid office. The staff can surely be unpleasant at times. Other then dealing with financial aid I have found my experience to be of great satisfaction!

Overall Experience: At MGCCC, I felt like I received the help I needed. The teachers were always there before and after class to answer questions. It's not hard to apply for admission and everything is straightforward. The cost of tuition is reasonable and affordable. I would advise incoming students to take all pre-reqs at a community college because you'll be able to save.

3 College Junior

Career Services: On campus jobs are available for those in need along with internships.
