5 College Sophomore

Facilities: There are tutoring centers, a big library, and a free athletic center for students and staff. I miss it so much and can't wait to go back for my sophomore semesters.

  • Mac: McElroy Residence Community
  • The Mall: Area between CSU, Armstrong, and the library
  • PA building: Performing Arts Center
  • Rec Center: Otto Recreation Center

  • Men's Hockey Games: This might not be the best team on campus, but no one can resist the call of the Verizon Wireless Center on a Friday night. Plus, you can get some free swag if you're lucky enough to catch something.
  • Welcome Week: From the Wednesday before classes start to the day before, there are so many things for incoming and current students to do. Welcome Week kicks off with a freshman dance and continues with so many different activities that it will be hard to keep your head straight.
Urban Legends
  • A common myth is that sororities are not allowed to have houses because more than five girls living together is considered a brothel in the city of Mankato.
  • Allegedly, students can get back half of what they paid for books from the campus bookstore. This is SO not true.
Favorite Things To Do
Seeing free movies in Ostrander Auditorium is always a good time, and bowling and playing pool in the CSU is cheap entertainment and a good place to hang out with friends. Working out in the Otto Recreational Center is a favorite of many students. There are also random events all over campus, such as theater performances, concerts, and MavTunes, which is a Friday night concert that features many local bands. And that's just naming a few events!
