Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Despite all their qualms with the academics, the facilities, and the social aspects of Millsaps, many students look on their years here as a great personal investment. For young adults that need challenges, they will find them. For those who need nourishment, there will be enough of that as well. The administration is truly committed to this. With 12 students to each faculty member, the school gives higher education a personal touch that distinguishes success from failure. Of course, no student who wished to stay forever could be considered a success, and most students are extremely eager to begin their futures. Sometimes, these ambitions become evident in the highly political, possibly even malevolent, maneuvering of on-campus gossip.

The student body is respectfully conservative—there will be little in the form of bitter disputes of beliefs. Millsaps College prides itself on being a transformative experience, and many students come back more thoughtful, more liberal, and more mature. It can be found in Jackson, which has been labeled ‘The Best of the New South,’ and has made strides toward becoming a more metropolitan center. All of this contributes to the feeling that a freshman standing at the door of his college years at Millsaps College will be beginning an individual and unique process.

5 College Freshman

Weather: The weather isn't a huge factor in my experience. I'm from Mississippi so I am used to the crazy weather, 80 degrees one day and 40 the next.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of fast food places, but there is an equal amount of chain and local restaurants. Prices vary depending on how good of quality you want. But even nonexpensive food is still good.

5 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The food is great. There are always options. We have two places to eat other than in the cafeteria, Reubens and Kava Cafe. I enjoy both places very much when I want something other than Caf food.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Not everyone enjoys going to sporting events, but if you do it is a great time. Everyone is positive and supports everyone.

5 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: There really is not anything negative about the school.
