4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Midland felt a lot like high school, and I really enjoyed high school. I have made great friends and unforgettable memories there. It is great for people looking for personalized attention and close relationships with the entire campus.

Campus Housing: My personal experience with the Benton dorm was great! I had air conditioning, unlike any other freshman dorm. The lobbies of the other dorms are air conditioned though. Men's memorial is in the worst condition. There were multiple pad charges in Beegle. Even though I didn't have guys in my dorm, I liked having privacy and more cleanliness. The convenience of all the on campus housing is good because we can get across campus in a matter of minutes. The social atmosphere is close-knit. My experience was worth the cost, which is slightly higher than I would honestly like it to be. However, I am living in the campus apartments next year, which is much more costly, but I am allowed to cut down my meal plan to five.

Diversity: Everyone seems to be open and accepting of one another. I have never seen or heard of any issues of discrimination or racism.

Majors: I love my advisers, and I love how the biology department has done enough research to organize and offer concentrations for biology. For example, I am a biology major with a concentration in pre-physician assistant. They did this to better prepare students for more selective careers.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I originally was a nursing major, but at the end of the first semester I switched to biology because my anatomy and physiology professor gave me some encouraging compliments within the first month of classes. There wasn't an official application process for my program.

Off-Campus Housing: You must live on campus a minimum of four semesters unless you have an approved excuse. Midland's policy won't let you stay on campus if you are 21 years old. You can either live in the Midland East apartments across from the YMCA on Lincoln, or you must find another housing option in town. That is inconvenient for some people I know.

Campus Strictness: College kids do as they please unless they get caught breaking the rules. If you got caught driving on the blocked off streets, you would get a $100 fine. Most of the students that consume alcohol do so off campus. The school staff cannot enforce rules about that. However, if the drunk students come back on campus and are the cause of a noise complaint, then the drinking goes on record.

Local Atmosphere: There isn't a lot to actually do in Fremont. Repeated visits to the small mall, Half Apps at Applebees, or late night visits to Village Inn are more popular. A great highlight is the YMCA facility Fremont has. It is going to be the one of the largest in the nation after more construction. Luckily, Omaha is only twenty five minutes from Fremont if you wish to have more various activities.

Greek Life: I don't know a lot about Greek Life. I think it is an interesting thing, and I know many great people involved in it. I hear and/or get invited to Greek social events, but I have never attended one. I find myself busy with other commitments.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: I love how many things are available to do! I wish more students took advantage of them. There is something for just about everybody, and if there isn't, you can initiate one yourself!

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Our nursing program is exceptional. The social scene is a blow-out, especially during finals week or special events like Student Appreciation Day! Midland offers intimate connections with the majority of the other staff and students there because it is smaller.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on Midland's campus. I didn't like how there was a security breach notified to us by email at the beginning of the year. At that time, I didn't have a smart phone directly connected to my email account. My mother called me about it because she heard it through the grapevine that there was a threat on campus, and we supposedly were in lock down mode. I feel safe walking from the library to my dorm at night, but I don't think I would know exactly what to do if I was assaulted on that short walk.

Other than that, there have been very few, if any, concerns about safety services at Midland.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Although I didn't receive financial aid from Midland my first year because of other scholarships, I would say the process was great. They simplified the work for me, sent it to my house, and had me sign whether or not I wanted it. Whatever I didn't understand, my dad was able to easily explain what they were asking.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I am in the Biology program, and I have great advisers. The biology department professors are not only intelligent, they are approachable and very helpful. Their wealth of knowledge, various backgrounds, curiosity, and humor is what makes them valuable at Midland. Biology is not an easy major, but the department staff members are willing to help those who need it and challenge those who are capable. They will help you make the extra steps toward your goals.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had an internship. As a biology major I will look for one, most likely my senior year. I need more knowledge and experience in order to apply for an internship. I know that I can use my professors as resources to help me get any internship I wish.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I haven't actually been inside a dorm so I wouldn't really know.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: I think Midland university has a great activities crew, and I enjoy the events they offer such as Warrior Day, free breakfast in the morning, and movie nights, just to name a few.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Well Midland University is a pretty small University which I think makes it a little more personal in its developing relationships.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I didn't receive any help from my school in finding a place for me to live off campus. I obtained my house before I attended my college.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: I had a good experience when I receive my financial aid. I sat down with an advisor and we went over my financial aid package and it was easy to understand and obtain.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: We have a pretty diverse campus, but religion and politics isn't a common discussion among peers.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I haven't ate on campus so I don't really know.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Being from California, there are less opportunities available. We don't have a real beach, I have to worry about TORNADOS and SNOW! I realize the things I took for granted while growing up on the beach.

3 College Freshman

Academics: There are quite a few opportunities for my major at school, but unfortunately I haven't been able to partake in many of them as I am a mother of two. The workload is bareable though.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Many teachers are willing to help you if you asked for it. You have a Writing Center, math tutors, and a library with not only books, but online resources as well.
