Computers: Wireless internet is available across campus. I did have issues with speed and access at times especially when there was heavy traffic or when someone tried to mess with the system. I always had free access to printers in the library and there are several computer labs across campus.

Majors: All I had to do was talk to my advisor and we made an outline of what I needed to take and I was out in 15 minutes. There was no issue at all.

Majors: The Political Science Department was a very enjoyable experience. The workload was not too extremely difficult, but it is not advisable to wait to the last day to get everything done. I felt the cirriculum also prepared me for my future career and I feel as though I have a strong chance in the world. I was also able to participate in an internship at the Tennessee State Legislature through this program and I know of several other opportunities that I could have taken advantage of.

Scholarships: I received the Presidential Scholarship and my other scholarships came from private sources so I had no difficulty getting financial aid at MTSU. Although, I do know that the later one waits, the more hassle they will run into because of the sheer amount of people needing assistance. Find out what you need and talk to the financial aid office as soon as possible to quicken your experience.

Greek Life: Greek activities took place all of the time at MTSU. There is a recruitment week, a chili cook-off, homecoming floats, and all sorts of other events hosted by Greek groups. There is no tension between Greeks and non-Greeks and everyone has fun together. Greeks have there own houses on the edge of campus.

Nightlife: I never attended any nightlife festivities due to my studies. I did attend sports games when I could and those were always entertaining to go to.

Campus Strictness: They have basic rules that have to be followed, all works out.

Weather: If it nice out, it's beautiful walking around and looking at the scenery. However, on a rainy cold morning, it isnt exactly fun walking out in it.

3 College Junior

Athletics: I don't participate in it, given the fact that I am very busy with other things in my life.

Off-Campus Housing: I would love to move out on my own, but I find the cost to be way too high for broke college kids.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: You hear about it, but don't neccessarily see it all the time. Students participate in partying, it is college.

4 College Junior

Academics: There are a lot of great things at MTSU. Lots of tutors who are willing to help, faculty and staff that are there to help you along the way.

Health & Safety: I have heard about a lot of unsafe activity that has went on at campus, so I am a little cautious. However, I do feel pretty comfortable wherever I go. Just make sure to pay attention to my surrroundings.

Local Atmosphere: It is a pretty neat town. Lots of things to do around the square. I love the area, the trees and landscape are wonderful and the houses are so cute!

4 College Junior

Computers: There's always plenty of space and open computers. There are great, modernized computer labs that make you feel at home and comfortable while working.

Majors: Although I do love the subject of Psychology, I can't help but finding myself wondering if I should have gone into another field that my heart enjoys. I do have two other minors that I adore, so I can always go to Grad school for one of those.

3 College Junior

Majors: To apply to school, pick classes, pay fees, buy books. Everything is pretty much easy to figure out at this point.

Academics: MTSU's accounting is the best no doubt. We have better accreditation for our accounting program than Vanderbilt! It is definitley a challenge. The faculty here is superb and enthusiastic about teaching.

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Not everyone is keen on the town of Murfreesboro, but almost everyone loves MTSU—it's a safe and rewarding environment. One key to a stress-free experience here is to plan ahead so you're not running late for class all the time. Stress can be tough, and a few stitches in time can help you avoid a lot of headaches. Once students graduate, many seem to leave with a bigger impression of the people who helped them learn, rather than the actual material they studied. Lots of students also comment that they have made great friends at MTSU and are grateful for the experience and opportunities. There is something for everyone in Murfreesboro, and if you make an effort to look around the corner, you may find the solution to a problem you didn't even know you had. The outdoor environment around MTSU is personally rewarding. There are local parks everywhere and major state parks as close as a 30-minute drive in any direction. Anyone who chooses to become active in outdoor pursuits will not be let down. Between the inspiring Tennessee landscape and the technical and logistical assistance from MTSU, an outdoor enthusiast can enjoy wonderful experiences here.

Remember: If you ever need help while you're here, all you have to do is ask. The faculty and staff at MTSU want nothing more than to see you succeed. Your success reflects upon them and enforces their purpose in teaching. Your teachers can also be your best networking tool when it comes time to look for a job or internship, so when you find professors you like, take other classes with them, and really get to know them—you can go far.
