4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: pretty good depends where you go

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: I'm a commuter, therefore I don't eat on campus a lot. I've only eaten on campus a few times and out of the few times I've eaten on campus, they were ok. The flavors could still be a work out in a few fields such as the broth in ramen bowls that I had recently at Sni-Phy. Other than that, eating on campus is good with a lot of options and variety available to suit our tastes.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: We have great food! Some cafeterias are better than others. I personally recommend Brody or Sny/Phi. The meal plan allows you to have unlimited access to dining halls.

Campus Dining: It is convenient and not bad but I would prefer to cook my own meals.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Not bad. I work in the cafeteria as a supervisor, and we strive to give the best service to students here at MSU, and by and by I think we succeed.

Campus dining is convenient, but the quality of food lacks consistency. Many cafeterias prepare a variety of different choices, everyday. Dorm food might not be top-notch, but the University really does try hard. On special dinner days the cooks step it up a bit, and the food takes a small leap toward divinity. Some cafeterias serve better food than others, and a large majority of students will agree that either the Gallery at Snyder-Phillips or Shaw Hall cafeteria food is far superior to other dormitories. The “meal on the go” option, called Totally Takeout, is a convenient way for busy students to stock up on soups, sandwiches, and snacks for their dorm rooms. Students now have the option of getting takeout from the Gallery, as well.

The cafeteria is not that bad as long as students’ expectations aren’t high. The food isn’t going to be home-style cooking, but students with meal plans generally eat better than off-campus students who are living off of fast food and ramen noodles. Cafeteria food is an acquired taste. It’s not great on the first encounter, but once students learn to lower their tastebuds’ standards, most agree it’s not that bad. Find time to make a trip to the Gallery for a good meal.
