Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing is extremely far away from any university buildings

Scholarships: I got a good portion of my expenses paid through financial aid without having to do any extra work

Nightlife: I absolutely love East Lansing. All of the bars and things to do are located on one easy strip, Grand River. It is directly across the street from campus, so if you live on campus, you don't have to worry about who's gonna give you a ride home after a night of partying, or how you are going to afford that cab.

I am twenty one, so most of this review will focus on the bar aspect of nightlife, but for those of you that are not old enough, i can't begin to tell you how many house parties i've walked by at night. there is always some type of partying going on, no matter the age. there is also a hookah bar that is 18+.

Okay, back to bars. No matter what type of mood you are in, there is a bar for everyone at MSU. Crunchy's and Peanut Barrel are great if you just want to sit around with friends at tables, play darts, etc. It's a more relaxed setting. If you are in the mood to go to a crowded bar where you will meet new people and run into friends, there is always Harpers, Landshark, PT'OMalley's, the Riv, and countless others. And if you're looking for somewhere to drink and dance, Dublin Square turns into a club at night. There are also sports bars to come and watch games, including a Buffalo Wild Wings.

The town of East Lansing is just so unique when it comes to nightlife, and it's a great experience no matter what type of environment you like to be in. :)

Weather: The worst thing about Michigan, hands-down, is the weather. It is gorgeous and SO comfortable outside when the Fall semester starts, but once November hits, it's freezing. The snow doesn't start until early February usually, but when it starts snowing, it doesn't stop for months. The school also NEVER closes for snow because it is always prepared. The sidewalks are even heated. However, if you really wanna do well in school, the fact that it is cold can be a benefit. It makes you less inclined to go out every night, and more inclined to sit in your room, covered in a blanket, and dominate college.

Transportation: So I am going to come at this from the prospective of someone with no car that lives on campus.... I only take the bus when I am going somewhere that is not within walking distance. and that's VERY RARE because almost EVERYTHING worth doing is on Grand River, which is walkable distance from campus. There is nothing better than going out to drink and not having to worry about who is driving or who is paying for a cab. But...if you DO need a cab, they are literally in front of every bar, and they all crowd around Harpers, so finding a cab is not hard at all. The only con is if you live more than 2 or 3 miles away because the cab drivers can sometimes be reluctant to go too far.

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining is not bad at all. If you walk down the main strip (Grand River), you can usually find a little bit of everything. There are cheap fast food places for drunk and broke nights, but there are also sushi places, a buffalo wild wings, thai food, Mediterranean food, mexican food, and even bulgarian food. Everything is also very decently priced and tastes great.

Health & Safety: Michigan State's campus is just HUGE. It makes it hard for the police to be everywhere at one time, and it is also a forested campus, so while it is beautiful, it doesn't have the safest feel at night. During the day, however, there are usually a ton of ppl and it feels very safe.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There are a good amount of cute guys on campus, but most of them are all frat guys and not interested in buying you dinner if you know what i mean. On the better side, there are almost always hot frat boys trying to buy you a drink if you need one. Girls are also usually running around in scant clothing, if any at all, and falling on the concrete in their stilettos in the snow. it makes for a great night of people watching.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life is a pretty big part of campus. It's hard to walk down the main strip on a nice day/night and not see a jumping party at every single frat house you pass. They are also pretty nice and will let most ppl come in even if they are not involved in Greek life (mostly girls of course, but sometimes guys too). However, you dont see too many greek t-shirts or things like that during the day.

3 College Junior

Diversity: There isn't a lot of diversity. There are A LOT of people from Asia but that's really it. There are mostly white people.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: So there are pros and cons to this one. On football days, during tailgating there are hardly any cops and you can pretty much get away with just walking around drinking bottles of beer. But on the weekend nights you have to be careful because there are a lot of cops. Most of them are riding up and down the main strip right off campus though (Grand River), but if you are walking back drunk you still have to be careful not to get in trouble if you're being obnoxious or are underage.

Campus Housing: I live in Owen hall, and have single with a shared bathroom connected to my neighbor. I love living in the dorms because i love the community/family feeling you get with the people on your hall. However, although i like my living space, there are some cons. The water is often going through some crazy chemical process or the pipes mess up and the water doesn't smell that great and even turns red every once in a while for a few minutes so you have to be careful when washing your clothes. There is also construction going on currently and they are not considerate AT ALL about fencing walkways off of being loud at 6am. But if there is no construction going on and the water isn't acting up, the dorms are actually really fun.

Campus Dining: There are a ton of dining halls on campus and they are all pretty good. Brody is by far the best. When my friends and I leave there we always feel like we are gonna have a "brody baby" because we are so full. There are a bunch of big dining halls but there are also a few smaller ones that are great for grabbing lunch and getting some studying done. Another great benefit of our dining halls is that there are SO many of them. You don't have to walk very far to get to one, there is always one right around the corner. And the food quality is very good. The only con i can think about is repetitiveness. Each dining hall can be repetitive....but the good thing about that is you can just go do a different hall!

Athletics: Come on guys, it's a Big 10 school! We have an amazing basketball team, and our football team will be back up and dominating soon enough. Coming from an undergrad school with no football team, the sports at MSU are off the chain.!

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Only chain restaurants. Not a lot of good small business places. Have to drive some distance to get anywhere that is different.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: The girls are very attractive, not always the brightest, but they are fun.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: There are a few basic bars, nothing great. Not a lot of restaurants. Most bars charge cover as well.

4 College Senior

Computers: The law school has wireless access, multiple printer locations and a good computer lab. It all gets the job done and makes life easier.

2 College Junior

Campus Strictness: I don't live on campus so I cannot really say how they treat the students on a day to day basis or dealing with emergencies. However, the parking police are RUDE and inconsiderate.

College Sophomore

Weather: I've never had any weather problems affect my experience. There's never any one type. It hasn't snowed yet, and it's December 6.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I'm a law student so there isn't much time for anything else. My program has a ton of faculty and staff members that are willing to help all the time. It's not as competitive as other schools seem to be. We also have to meet with the internship counselor in order to help us get a job.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: There's a wide variety of people here on campus. There's every type of group of students you could possibly think of.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on campus. It's large but I always see police driving around.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I live at Chandler Crossings. Very good value for the money

4 College Freshman

Facilities: MSU Has Everything – I'm not exaggerating in saying that if you are looking for a club, team, internship, lab experience, whatever MSU has something along those lines. It is such a big school, the amount of things presented to me is huge! it's awesome to have so many resources at my fingertips.
