College Junior

Nightlife: I really don't participate in the nightlife scene.

Athletics: One of our big areas is golf. There are a lot of students enrolled in the golf programs.

Off-Campus Dining: We have a large amount of choices when it comes to restaurants.

Overall Experience: It has been good for the most part. There are a couple of courses that only a couple of instructors teach. That makes it difficult. They tend to know that you have no other choice and make things difficult.

Overall Experience: There have been several students get jobs before graduation with a start date immediately following commencement.

Local Atmosphere: This campus is supported by the community in an awesome way. Every time there is a need to raise funds for expansion the community comes through.

Diversity: There are students from all over the country here. It is a very diverse campus.

Scholarships: I don't agree with the university policy to not allow night students to receive scholarships from the university endowments. I think every student should be given the chance to earn them.

Campus Strictness: I think they do a great job of maintaining policies at our school.

Health & Safety: We definitely have a police presence on campus. There is no doubt that Methodist University makes safety on campus a priority. However, I know somebody who fell victim to sexual assault but when she reported it to the relevant authorities they tried to keep it hush hush. There is a place on campus that offers counselling for any psychological and emotional needs one might have. I must say that our Health Center is hit or miss. On so many occasions, I've seen people given painkillers from a mild headache to somebody who has broken their arm (obviously exaggerating this). All I'm trying to say is that they don't give you the medication you need for the particular ailment you're suffering from. Its best to just go off campus; I think they are restricted by too many laws and policies and can only dispense painkillers.

Facilities: Methodist University is growing rapidly; there is always some kind of construction going on during the year. In one summer, a new residence hall was built and a lot of people wanted to live there. I agree it is pretty nice (North Hall). You only share your toilet and shower with your room mate. What I dislike about North Hall is the fact that the rooms are smaller than Cumberland, Sanford, Weaver and Garber. In these four dorms, you share a with your room mate and 2 suite mates which really isn't that bad for the amount of space you have. We have a recently built state-of-the-art Nursing Building with amazing equipment needed for your programme. The library where I work got a makeover and looks pretty swell. There is a Health Sciences building that is being erected and should boast some amazing additions.

Facilities: There is a Leadership Fellows Program that I am a part of which recognises individuals within the student body who can be great leaders of tomorrow. This is a great programme because it forces you to get involved and move you out of your comfort zone which is really great. Other than that the academic programs vary in difficulty relative to the degree path you choose. There is not much of a social scene because the school is small so don't expect wild college parties or well attended events. The sporting activities are well attended sand some other events here and there.

Campus Strictness: Methodist University is a dry campus. For those of you who don't know what that means: it is a campus where zero tolerance is held for alcohol consumption whether you're above 21 or not. You can come back to school drunk (not disruptively drunk though) and be fine but if you're caught drinking ON CAMPUS then you get a fine and a warning until you have racked up enough to get suspended or expelled. Forget about doing drugs, that includes weed. 40% of a dorm was kicked out of school because of the weed that was being consumed there. THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE CONSIDERING HOW SMALL MY COLLEGE IS.

Campus Dining: Methodist University changed their catering service at the beginning of Fall 2013 from Sodexo to Aramark. In the beginning, Aramark seemed to be doing well and we were quite pleased with the change. That was short-lived. They were trying to get good reviews then they started slacking and now the meals are monotonous. I eat in the cafeteria EVERYDAY, and sometimes I just grab a bowl of cereal and fruits for dinner, maybe a salad. You just get tired of the meals and they lose their novelty. There is a Chick-Fil-A upstairs in the Bern's Student Center and Provisions On Demand (POD) kiosk to buy snacks, frozen meals but nothing too exciting. Oh The Wedge is also available and they sell $10 salads that are not worth the price because they pretty much have what is in the cafeteria below with a few exceptions. People really do cookout runs at 1am because they're hungry.

Guys & Girls: People at MU are not really fashion forward. They dress for comfort. Don't expect to see people wearing the latest trends that circulate Tumblr, Pinterest or Instagram. However, people usually are nice to each other. I must say though that there are a lot of clicks that come about from the sport you participate in, the club you're in, whether you're an international student or not, or the race you are. I think it is inevitable for people to hang out with those they feel they have something in common with, but I wouldn't say that there is no inter-mingling because there is. Do remember that Methodist University is a very small campus and people who go there tend to leave on the weekends too either go home and travelling around the state. Yes, I would classify my college as a suitcase campus, rather dead on weekends.

Transportation: I haven't used it personally but there is a campus bus that international students use for sure. There public bus also has methodist as one of its stops to go around town.

Athletics: Most people are involved in a sport of some sort, whether it is varsity or intramural. The teams are like their own kind of second family supporting each other throughout the rest of their college experience.

Majors: Considering my personal life at home keeping me busy, and already being involved in many leadership positions on campus, along with me being a biology major, i doubt i will have time for an internship. But from what I've heard from my classmates that have gone through internships, there are many available and the career services is always available to help get you one that will better suit you.

Majors: Being a biology major is no walk in the park at times but I love science and am heading towards the PA program so it's worth it in the long run. Being involved on campus helps relieve some stress from my studies.

3 College Junior

Parking: Depends on what time you try to find a spot. Available spaces vary throughout campus whenever each building may have more going on.
