3 College Freshman

Computers: Good computer labs. Pretty terrible wi-fi.

Computers: Network reliability is pretty good. I don't like having to log in to the secure network every time I turn on my computer. But I don't know if that's the school fault or not.

Computers: All of the things you need are accessible. Printers are nearby most areas, wireless is good and you don't absolutely have to have a personal computer but it definitely helps.

Computers: There are always computer labs open and there is a schedule on the door to see when classes have that lab reserved. I personally find it helpful to have a laptop so that I can work on my assignments in my dorm room. And you can easily print to a wireless printer in the lobby of your dorm building.

Computers: As a Graphic Design major, I spend an incredible amount of time in the school's Mac Lab. It is a great resource for me, the computers have huge screens, are fast, and have all of the software I want. For each computer in the Mac Lab there is an illustration tablet, and there are several scanners in the lab. The lab does get quite busy at crunch times in the semester, when multiple design classes have projects due.
There are many other computer labs on campus, off the top of my head I can think of 6 labs in 3 different buildings, but there are probably more. There are printers available everywhere and wireless printing that you can use easily from your laptop.

The computer labs at Messiah are plentiful and well-stocked with ink and paper. The five residence hall computer labs are usually empty and incredibly convenient for finishing work close to home. The computer labs in the academic buildings tend to become crowded in between classes, but that can be resolved with a short wait or a quick walk to the next lab. It is certainly possible to rely entirely on Messiah’s computers, but almost all students bring laptops of their own. However, most students take advantage of the $24 printing credit per semester and do not bring their own printers.

The wireless Internet occasionally goes down in the residence halls, but this can usually be easily resolved with an Ethernet cable or a call to Information Technology Services (ITS). If ITS receives enough calls from residents in a certain building (to suggest that it is not just an issue on a personal laptop), they will reset the Internet connection and the problem will be fixed immediately.
