Campus Housing: Campus housing is great here! I lived in the more expensive dorms, but I really enjoyed it. The less expensive dorms seem to be great as well.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I did not encounter any difficulties with selecting my major.

College Sophomore

Majors: I feel indifferent about being in the program simply because I have not started taking the classes geared toward my major yet.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The only concern I have is walking back to my dorm after late classes when it begins to get dark. I personally don't have any concerns about sexual assault.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The scholarships the school awards are okay. I just wish there were more scholarship opportunities from them, or opportunities they would make students aware of.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: We do not have a greek life here on campus..........

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The school is not that strict. The security guards are really nice and helpful.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I don't know about the other students' use of drugs/alcohol.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I cannot review off-campus housing simply because I stayed on campus, and also have lived in the city before attending this school.

College Sophomore

Campus Dining: I have not eaten in the cafe on campus because I don't have a meal plan, and don't see myself paying for the food. Many students do eat there though, and they seem to enjoy it.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I have not really experienced the local atmosphere. Even though I have lived here for many years, I never payed attention to city activities.

1 College Sophomore

Athletics: We don't have an athletic program here. There are small clubs that do athletic activities, but there's no official athletic program.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: The shuttle system is great. It allows students like me, who don't have a car, to get to and from the campus and dorms.

Overall Experience: Going here was not what I expected. It is pretty okay though.

Computers: The computer labs here are pretty awesome. There are plenty of MAC computers throughout the campus that are filled with awesome design, animation, etc. programs. It takes some getting used to if you've never used MAC computers before, but the staff is there to help. Even though there are occasional problems, everything always gets taken care of.

Majors: The majors at MCA are what any visual artist could really want. The courses are challenging, the way any real artist would want it. The professors are always willing to assist students in any way they can help, along with being very devoted to their own artistic endeavors outside of school. The school helps all students find and cultivate relationships with companies and individuals that look for what MCA students have to offer professionally.

Scholarships: There are a few scholarships you can get from MCA not being an in state student. They help out with tuition prices a lot and aren't difficult to maintain. The workers in the financial aid office are easy to talk to and get information from if you ever have issues or questions.

Nightlife: There are plenty of places not too far from the school that people who are looking to have a good time could go to. Clubs, bars, art shows are always going on. You could call up a cab, catch the school shuttle, drive, or even walk to most of these places and events.

Off-Campus Housing: There are plenty of places to look at or stay near the school but the only problem would be the amount of activity in the area. By activity I would be referring to the people and their actions in the area. Most of the activity is positive like park events, and neighbor functions. The rest of the activity is certain amounts of violence and crime in the area.

Guys & Girls: The ratio of guys to girls would put both at an equal amount at MCA. There's a pretty diverse group of both in terms of looks and personality. If you can think of the general "hipster" then you've got the basic look for most of the students but not all. Everyone has their own style going on there. The attractiveness of the students varies as well, since it is an art school not a beauty pageant.

Off-Campus Dining: I love how many available options there are! Seriously, any kind of food you can imagine, Memphis has probably got it. Indian, Chinese, Korean, great pizza, amazing deserts, famous for BBQ and hamburgers... The list is endless. Cost-wise, you will only find a few places for really cheap.. Most places are either under or way over $10. It really just depends on your budget and how big your appetite is. Everything is in pretty close range to the school, and I have found some places that offer student discount.

Athletics: We don't have athletic teams at MCA. Though we do have a running club that participates in local 5k marathons. Also, we have frisbee Fridays and other activities that students sometimes host. On top of that, all MCA students have free access to the local gym, Riviera Spa and Fitness.

Drug Safety: Drugs are not a huge thing at my school. There are a lot of students who smoke, but other than that it's pretty minimum. The students who do use drugs don't do it publicly, or announce that they do it.

Guys & Girls: People are pretty stuck up about their work and all think they're the next big thing. There's also a problem with theft. A lot of people don't care about fashion or hygiene and have very small groups of friends. Most people don't go out and just go to each others apartments or houses. There is a lot of dating of only MCA people and they stick up their noses at people who they deem preppy or too into sports or anything besides art.

Off-Campus Dining: Right in the heart of midtown, but not too far from downtown or east memphis. Memphis has great options for many ethnic cuisines and delicious memphis staples.
