2 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: although the university is located approximately 30 minutes from st. louis, i find the atmosphere incredibly boring for anyone under the age of 21.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I never really had any problems with personal safety issues on campus. everyone is relatively considerate when it comes to crime etc. Public safety typically breaks up any fights so nothing is too major regarding this topic.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: There's really not much to do on campus so the majority of people just drink and smoke for entertainment.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Aimes is absolutely horrible if you're trying to eat healthy. The typical options include burgers, pizza, corn, mashed potatoes, etc. The salad bar is okay, but does get boring after a while. Recently, they have attempted to improve their options with fresh fruit etc, but it is still lacking.

Scholarships: My parents don't take out any loans through the government so any aid I have received was granted through scholarships of Mckendree University. The best way to receive scholarships through Mckendree would be to talk to admissions for the options you're available for.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Those within the athletic field appreciate the opportunities provided by the facilitates. However, regular, non-athletic students don't really benefit from these facilities and programs.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I'm not entirely sure, if I had the chance to do it all over again, that I would attend McKendree University again. I have learned a lot throughout my past two years as a student here, but I believe its time for a change. I need excitement and change of scenery. At times, Mckendree University feels like an isolated island from the rest of the world making it difficult to find excitement and adventure.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The majority of decently priced dining options include mcdonalds, taco bell, and wendy's. If one wants quality food, the price goes up dramatically and travel time is increased (typically located in St.Louis).

3 College Sophomore

Weather: When the weather is nice, the campus is alive with students walking/lounging about on campus. However, when its snowy, cold, and rainy, the campus is dead and everyones inside playing games.

1 College Sophomore

Computers: The wifi is absolutely horrible. At times, I even drive 30 minutes home to finish my online sapling homework due to the in-campus network crashing completely.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: The program itself is okay, however, the overall quality is lacking.

1 College Sophomore

Nightlife: There's never really anything to do on campus and/or off. If there is a party off campus, it is shortly busted by the cops and then everyone goes to brewers (which is a mistake on its own).

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I understand the need for code within the dorms, however, at times I find the strictness ruins the limited fun available on campus and instead replaces that absence with boredom and stress.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Everything is in walking distance so its relatively easy to get where you need to go if you live on campus. Off campus, transportation, however, is entirely your own responsibility so the cost may vary.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: There have been many different backgrounds in my classes.

5 College Freshman

Majors: There are opportunities to learn & gain work exp.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Easy to establish yourself, which is great.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: No options in Lebanon. Great variety in close towns

5 College Freshman

Majors: CS works you hard, but you learn a lot.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Admission is pretty easy. Getting money is harder.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It's midwestern weather! Such variety!

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: There if you want it, easy to ignore if you don't.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Depends on where you are. Football players = weedy

3 College Freshman

Parking: Freshman parking is god-awful and unfair.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Newer dorms = $$$$, but are very nice.

McKendree University is a lovely, small, close-knit school that students enjoy very much. Everyone gets along as a family would. Not only are students challenged by the academics, but they also experience a fun learning adventure. Students receive very positive reinforcement from other students, faculty, and staff at McKendree, to assist them with all of their ambitions and to help them pursue a (hopefully) successful career in the future. Professors are willing to go above and beyond to help students reach their fullest potential by making improvements in their teaching methods and taking any suggestions along the way. In addition, the commitment of students to learn and always strive to do their best serves as great motivation and determination for the teachers.

While there's not much to do in the way of nightlife in Lebanon, students have to learn how to be independent and seek entertainment on their own. St. Louis is not too far away, so that's always a good option. Also, there are plenty of activities and clubs on campus with which to get involved. All in all, a student's McKendree experience is what he or she makes of it.
