4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Everyone is friends with everyone. No one seems to be judged based on who they like, what they dress, or even how they act. Everyone is pleasant and I always feel comfortable with what ever I choose to do. I have made some of the greatest friends at this school (guys and girls) and I do not intend to loose them anytime soon.

Greek Life: Myself, I am not into Greek life. I have nothing against it, just personally I think that it is a waste of money. But, I do have a lot of friends that are in Greek life. Yes, they do separate and have their special Greek life groups, but no one is discriminated and shunned because they are not in a sorority/fraternity.

Campus Housing: There are many buildings on campus that are constantly being renovated. Other buildings are run down with carpets that are repaired with duct tape. One perk that I love about each room is that there are quite large compared to other college dorm rooms. Also, each room comes with a free Micro-Fridge combo. It really comes in handy and saves a lot of money. Make sure that you look at each room before you pick a building.

Athletics: they offer the best entertainment and usually are the way you find out how to enjoy your friday or saturday night

3 College Senior

Majors: the psychology program is a struggle. i loved psychology of learning and behaviors with the pidgeon lab and have heard great reviews on congnitive psychology but other classes lack direction and enthusiastic teachers

College Senior

Majors: i haven't had the opportunity to have an internship yet

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Burger King, McDonalds, Chick fil A, Subway, Taco bell, Chipotle,,, you know

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: i think to make it better we need a better wellness center. they dont offer much but painkillers and salt gargles. i can do that on my own.

secondly campo needs guns. if a real threat was on campus, our first responsders cant defend us, all they can do is radio for help.

3 College Senior

Academics: Psychology Department is a nightmare but other programs may be worth it.

2 College Senior

Academics: the psychology department is pretty bad. Professors are misguided and lack enthusiasm.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Some days its good other days, well..... you know!

3 College Senior

Facilities: I fear this schools uniqueness is fading. there used to be a great social scene but its falling. the school used to very greek but now they shy from it. campus events are too guarded like were children (although we are in some sense we still should be allowed to be wild and grow) great academic programs in biology music and education. great school for financial aid.

2 College Senior

Facilities: i hope it gets better. the school is not very good for student life. bunch of weirdos and nerds.

2 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: its pretty sucky and since the school cracked down on the parties its gotten worse.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: I find on campus housing to be great within proximity to classes and facilities but they lack cleanliness often, along with proper heating and cooling.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Some students dress up to school some don't. It's really up to you cause most people don't care about what you wear (we're not that kinda school). Students mingle with different crowds, so you'll never find yourself just hanging out with one crowd of people.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: If you do the early application you will automatically be considered for scholarships and your grades and SAT scores determine you scholarship amount. Most people say they come here because of the financial aid that this school offers.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: You can find a party if you look but we're not a big party school. Once there was a walking dead party in one of the local bars. Belly dance has a cool get together in a local bar where people dance (belly dance) and enjoy music. You may need a car to get to some bars but at least one is walking distance.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love the small campus and the fact that the teachers are so helpful. This school not only exceeds academically but also succeeds with providing students with an engaging student life. McDaniel offers inexpensive off-campus trips, a variety of on campus events and services (such as the shuttle, gym, convenient store, coffee shop and an IT help desk) to ensure students are well taken care of and can enjoy their time on campus.

Local Atmosphere: It's a basic suburb and you'll need a car to get most places. There is a large nature park near us which is nice for hiking and picnicking. The mall isn't too great but it does have a Rue 21 and Deb and a few other young stores. Our school offers a shuttle service on the weekend that will drop you off at a metro that can take you into Baltimore and DC so there is good access to our neighboring cities!

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: No pressure to join. There are 4 social sororities and 5 social sororities and a handful of community service sororities/fraternities. Also many of our honor societies have the family feel of social Greek. Some of the social Greeks have wings in dorm buildings.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Glar is our main dining hall, its an all you can eat buffet. Has hot food lines, pizza, salad line, deli line, breakfast section, vegetarian bar, dessert bar and more. Your meal plan also includes meal exchanges at the pub, which is a grill styled food place on campus. We also have a Vocelli's on campus, which is a pizza place.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: We have ma and pa shops walking distance from the campus. There are a bunch of options. Also chain restaurants are found on route 140, which is the road our school is off of. Some of these restaurants are walking distance (if you like walking) but many require a car to get to. Many of the places around town offer a student discount.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: If you look for alcohol or drugs you'll find it but its not prevalent on our campus. We're not a big party school but you can find parties. Peer pressure isn't really a big deal unless you constantly surround yourself with peers that are doing things opposite of you. Your parents will be informed if you are caught drinking underage and you may be sent to the honor board. If you're underage and caught with an open container anything can happen from having to pour it out or getting a court date. Drinking in none-substance housing can also get you in a lot of trouble. We often have talks and seminars about the consequences of drinking and the school seems to discourage it.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: Campus safety has very nice officers, and you can tell their goal is to keep us safe rather than to get us in trouble. Not all housing on campus is substance free (freshman housing is always substance free), but harsh liquors are never allowed in rooms. We do not have a curfew, however dorm buildings are locked 24-7. Most teachers have an attendance policy, you have like 3 excused absences (don't even need a legitimate excuse) however after that teachers will begin to deduct points from your grade because it shows a lack of professionalism.
