Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Be involved in extra-curricular activities.
  • Keep in touch with your admission counselor.
  • Show genuine interest in the university.
  • Try your best for a good high school GPA and ACT/SAT scores.
  • Work hard academically in high school.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Bring a digital camera. College goes by fast, and you'll want to catch all the sentimental, crazy, and unexpected moments.
  • Bring a laptop. They're needed for everyday life-you don't always want to rely on the computer labs.
  • Complete your financial aid applications. If your financial aid is not completed on time, it will cause confusion for the semester.
  • Don't overeat! Don't let the Freshman 15 become a reality. If you can control your portions and stay away from too much bad food, you'll be fine.
  • Get a car or reliable transportation. It helps you set your own schedule and get places faster without relying on public transportation or a friend.
  • Get a part-time job. It's extra cash for the smaller school expenses and leisure spending as well.
  • Get a roommate for the dorms. It's cheaper to have a roommate, so if you're having problems finding one go to Res Life for assistance, or you'll end up paying the full amount for one person.
  • Get your books early. Be prepared for class at the beginning the semester-it will get harder. Consider buying them online.
