Local Atmosphere: Its in the middle of no where.

Local Atmosphere: I would say the local atmosphere is a love/hate type of thing. Personally, I don't like it at all. Staunton is rural and painfully small. There is very little to do. Occasionally there are some fun events downtown, but that's rare.(Also, "downtown" consists of one small section of a single street. That's how small Staunton is.) There's more to do if you drive to Harrisonburg/JMU.

If you're the kind of person who thrives on busy-ness and activity, Staunton will drive you slowly insane. If you like small-town communities that don't have a ton going on, you'll appreciate Staunton's charm.

Local Atmosphere: The downtown area here is awesome and people are alright, but don't skimp their tip.

Local Atmosphere: Staunton is a small, quaint town with a good downtown area to shop. There is also a lot of history in the city, and several historical attractions that you can visit. There is the Blackfriar's theater, which is the only recreation of Shakespeare's indoor theater in the world, which is very interesting. The historical Mary Baldwin college is nearby to downtown.

Local Atmosphere: Staunton is boring, but in a nice way. If youre looking for a party city, this is not the place for you, even though harrisonburg is 45 minutes away. It's nice and quiet and a good little town. Shopping is fun and unique, there are local craftsman who do excellent one of a kind work. There is the Woodrow Wilson Presedential library, and Black Friar's Playhouse which is really awesome. Theater life is very big in Staunton and they put on great productions.
