3 College Freshman

Weather: Right now it is really cold, but it will get warmer just like it always does when seasons come and go.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I love being and education major! The professors and academic counselors are helpful and are always available to answer whatever questions you may have.

College Freshman

Majors: I haven't had an internship yet.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: For the most part students walk where they need to go. Some students have cars so people will carpool. On days that are especially cold, there is a shuttle that will take girls from the dorms to where classes are and vice versa.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: From what I've seen the locals are kind and considerate, and seem to appreciate the business of the university students.

5 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: All the rules and regulations have been put in place in order to protect students from harming themselves and others. Sure Maranatha may be stricter than most public universities, but it is also safer.

College Freshman

Greek Life: We don't have Greek life.

College Freshman

Athletics: I haven't exactly been on campus very long, but from what I have seen sports are a huge part of campus life. Students will go out to games and the intramural sports seem to be pretty big on campus.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: We don't necessarily have police, but we do have campus security. The security is actually male students, who take time out of their busy schedules to make sure that we are all safe, and for that I am extremely thankful.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Mostly we have studying to do, but occasionally we will get together as a dorm and have a movie night or just talk and play games.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Although my dorm is one of the ones furthest from classes, the school has provided transportation on days where it is absolutely frigid out.

5 College Freshman

Academics: I am so happy to be at this school. Everyone here is friendly and helpful (students and faculty both). The curriculum is not too easy, nor is it to hard, and the workload is the amount that one would expect from any other university.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: As it was mentioned before, most of the food is fast food.

College Freshman

Nightlife: We do not drink, thus non of the categories apply. We like to hang out with friends, go shopping, or just go to Applebees to chill.

4 College Freshman

Weather: We don't have very many cancellations, due to weather. It snows with many windy days, but classes go on. Not missing class is a good thing because we don't have to be in classes longer (throughout the summer). We stay focused on the task at hand, and occasionally have a day off, if the weather is to cold.

College Freshman

Drug Safety: The University I attend (Maranatha Baptist University) is a Christian campus. We do not use drugs. We want to do what is pleasing to God, thus using drugs (that make you unaware of your surroundings or actions) is not glorifying to God. I appreciate the standard that are in my place in this facility, they help to make a safer environment.

5 College Junior

Computers: There are around 6 labs total around campus. Each with a printer. There are also other printers that you can send your papers to wirelessly. Wifi is available basically everywhere on campus. Printing costs a little bit, but not enough to complain about. The computers in the labs at school are very reliable and easy to use.

College Junior

Greek Life: Our school doesn't have 'Greek Life', we have socieites that are used as a means to get to know people and minister in our community and at Maranatha.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There is an Applebee's a couple minutes away from campus that a lot of students go to on Friday nights. There are 3 coffee shops in Watertown that are all excellent (slightly cheaper than Starbucks). Not many student dicounts. There is a specialty pizza place, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Zwiegs, mexican, chinese, Thai, diners, etc.

Campus Strictness: Maranatha is founded on biblical principles. Their goal is to help students formulate their own standards in a very safe environment. They have students coming from ultra-conservative homes but then they also have students coming from unsaved backgrounds. With that in mind they have set rules for dress, curfew, behavior, etc. that are rather high in an effort to not cause anyone to falter in what they were raised to believe.

For dress women wear skirts or dresses to class every day (to the top of the knee). Men are expected to wear ties and not sweats or jeans to class. Denium skirts may only be worn after 12pm or after your last class. Pants may be worn to dinner after 5pm (for women).

Dorm lock is 10pm Mon-Thurs. 11pm on Sat and Sun. 12am on Friday.

Drinking, Public displays of affection, and drugs are not allowed in any form.

Music and movies are also regulated as to what is deemed appropriate and what is not appropriate.

Academics: Sports Management is an extremely competitive and interesting field. The school does a great job of preparing us in all areas pertaining to a vocation in the Sports Management world. We deal with topics in Accounting to Ethics to Management to Marketing. The professors have a lot of connections and do their absolute best in securing the best possible opportunities for you as a student to succeed. It is a full-load credit wise, but manageable with some discipline. I play sports and still manage to get A's in all of my classes. (granted I do not get to have a social life in-season)

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Watertown is a relatively safe place to live. As a female I would feel completely safe to live off-campus with a few friends. The cost is slightly cheaper than living in the dorms, which really doesn't make it worth it to me to live off-campus. There are multiple locations to live, ranging anywhere from 2 minutes from main campus to 15 minutes away. Often times couples at the church will rent out rooms to college students; that would be the way to go since it would definitely be the cheapest.

3 College Junior

Transportation: Tranportation on campus itself is very limited. Only on very cold days is there a shuttle offered to the women students from their dorms to main campus. Local churches many times will provide rides to students who attend them. Many local businesses are within walking distance so there is not a shuttle running for those purposes. If you really need to go somewhere the dorm supervisors are very flexible and willing to help.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: They are definitely willing to work with you and try to figure out what options would work the best for your situation. There are several scholarhips available for students who show a need, and the finanical office will take any grants or scholarhips that come it to go toward your school bill.

3 College Junior

Weather: For the most part the weather is bearable, though extreme coniditions this year have made it somewhat miserable. Not a lot of snow, but definitely cold during the winter months. The fall and spring are beautiful though, and nothing really compares to a Wisconsin sunset.
