3 College Freshman

Nightlife: Louisiana Tech is a small campus full of engineers. This being said, there aren't that many parties I hear about. However, one of the clubs here, the Conclave of Science Fiction and Fantasy is a great place to geek out with other geeks.

College Freshman

Greek Life: I am not part of Greek life. Nor are any of my friends. I have not seen the chapter houses. I know nothing of how Greek life is here.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Being a tech college, there are more geeks than anything else.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The campus isn't big enough to warrant a huge food court. What is quite convenient, however, is how many off-campus restaurants take Tech Express, the same card you use to get food on campus.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Not very many of my friends even care for the sports here. However, there is a really nice athletic center that feels more like a place to unwind rather than exercise. There are bowling lanes, climbing walls, swimming pools and all kinds of stuff that's more for having fun than working out.

4 College Freshman

Academics: It feels like you're being lectured by a TEACHER far more often than a researcher.

5 College Freshman

Academics: I could gush for hours about how good the engineering curriculum is.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Considering how small Louisiana Tech is, there isn't that much that is needed or can be reasonably demanded. Some needs just won't arise that often.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Downtown Ruston is not far from Louisiana Tech. There's a very nice selection of restaurants out there.

5 College Freshman

Majors: Let me tell you about Louisiana Tech's freshman engineering program. The classes are project-based and there is no text book. Professors from every engineering department came together to design this course to give students just a taste of every engineering field and what work will be like as an engineer. When my Dad learned about this course, he wanted to go back to the professors from the college he graduated from and "slap their faces"

College Freshman

Majors: I have yet to take an internship. I have yet to seek one. However, I'm told the system is pretty streamlined.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: I've been at Louisiana Tech for two years now and I have yet to take a class where of the students attending, 10% of them are from another country.

2 College Senior

Facilities: La Tech is very traditional. Being an architecture major, I find the entire campus to be boring and non-lifting towards a more modern feel for the students. This school always goes the cheapest instead of the most efficient, and I don't really know why.

3 College Senior

Guys & Girls: Everyone sort of dresses the same in my opinion. I haven't really seen anyone (male or female) who completely stands out in the crowd due to their looks, dress, relationship, or social life. You will see people who want attention, but you shouldn't really encourage them because most of them are acting immature. I would say the best looking people are your own friends.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: I wish there were more places to eat at that were a lot closer to campus. It's difficult thinking about where to go when the locations of restaurants are scattered and you know what the experience will be when you get there (repetitive).

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: I have only lived in the apartment dormitory, which is so much better than the dorms because of the privacy and amenities provided within the apartments. I do wish I had an opportunity to stat at the newest apartments (Park Place) because there are a lot more benefits to it based on the design. It is pretty costly though, and I'm not sure that it is worth staying there.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: I wished there were more scholarships that Tech provided for students who do not live in Louisiana. This would really benefit international and US citizen students, especially since the school is receiving various ethnicity. I do appreciate the Out-of-State Bulldog Scholarship, which is really simple to receive and helps a lot with tuition. Check the Administrative Office for this particular scholarship.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love the peacefulness of the city and the campus environment. Living over 5,000 miles away, and it feels a lot like home! It's a fairly small campus so that kind of experience brings home to me when I feel homesick.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: Our education is very important when it comes to Tech. Teachers and staff work hard to make sure students strive in school to become better outside (in the real world). There are always career fairs for employer/intern opportunities, and the career center makes sure to bring in opportunity for every student of every major.

4 College Senior

Diversity: The school inherits lots of international and local students. A great school to get to know people from different cultures/ethnicity!

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: I wish there was more to do in Ruston, but there really isn't. I suggest going out of town over the weekend because the places here get boring after a while.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Unless you belong in a sorority/fraternity or have a lot of friends, there isn't much to do for nightlife. There are different locations for parties to happen, but it all depends on who you know. I would still say that the nightlife is probably the best thing here at school because of other factors that keep students from living life (aka location of school).

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There are a number of places available for off-campus living. Prices vary as well as the landlords, but I have heard from fellow classmates what is the best. If you are looking at living off campus, you need to consider time management, money, and transportation route. The campus I currently stay at does not have any public transport, so that is the downside of living off-campus. Everything is pretty convenient, but very costly. If you aren't willing to pay the extra costs, then stay on campus.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Most off campus restaurants stay open till 11 or midnight. Prices are usually no more than twenty dollars and they are always food for everyone . Even for the healthy eaters. Ruston usually stays on top of the food places .

4 College Freshman

Athletics: More than anything at Tech we love basketball !!! The Athletic department makes sure that they just don't provide for the Athletes but they also want to provide exercising , and health facilities for the non athletes that want to be just as healthy .
