3 College Freshman

Scholarships: It is a little confusing, but I imagine it is like that everywhere.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I am not very familiar with off-campus housing, but I have heard good things.

College Freshman

Nightlife: I don't really do that. I hang out with my friend group and just have fun.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: The school spends too much money on athletics since they are not that big of a part of the school.

4 College Freshman

Computers: Everyone is required to have a laptop. There is not wireless internet in the dorms, but there is cable. The wifi us usually reliable. There are nice computer labs in the library with macs and pcs.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Everything on campus is in walking distance. Everything you want to do off campus is accessible by campus and cumminty bus services which is free to students.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The campus is pretty well lit at night. There are emergency phones and you can have a "night walker" escort you across campus if you don't feel safe.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I love living on campus. My dorm has been renovated the most recent out of them all. The room sizes vary between dorms. There are no hall bathrooms, only suites. Every dorm, except one has air conditioning and that dorm is not being used next year.

College Freshman

Majors: I have not had an internship yet, but we are required at Longwood to have one so I will start looking soon.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I am only a freshman, but so far I do like my program. I do not have any concerns about finding a job, my profession is greatly needed.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: I don't know that much about diversity on campus. There seem to be a lot of activities and clubs to get involved in for diversity. There are also frequent programs that talk about diversity.

3 College Freshman

Parking: You don't really need a car on campus unless you live in one of the off-campus apartments that are too far to walk. Parking is expensive so many people who can avoid it don't bring their car.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Its mostly good weather. It does rain, but not anymore than average.

2 College Junior

Nightlife: All there is to do is party or go bowling which on certain nights is just a mash-up of drunk college students and locals. Most of my nights are spent in my room because to me its much more appealing.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are Chinese/Japanese restaurants, fast food, nice restaurants like Charley's and Applebees, Late night restaurant: cookout. I enjoy the variety of options I have to eat but the prices at some places could be better.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: I like that longwood has the little blue lights around campus that can be used in case of emergency just by pushing the button. The night walkers option is great, however sometimes I don't want to call them because I feel awkward. Usually the campus police stay in the police office. I rarely see them walking around campus and I feel that would make me feel safer and more comfortable when walking back to my room after a late class or something like that.

3 College Junior

Academics: I am a Spanish Major and as of right now I am one of two Spanish majors at Longwood. The rest are Spanish-education majors. My major is not the easiest in the world, especially at Longwood, because the extra requirements are annoying and a waste of money. For example: I have to take four semesters of another foreign language besides Spanish because there if you are a foreign language major that language cannot count as your foreign language requirement. Also, we are required to go on a study abroad trip. I do not believe this is a waste of money because i have been in Costa Rica since January and I have loved every minute of it, but for those people that don't have a lot of money it's hard to fulfill that requirement.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I don't know much about Greek life. I know that Stubbs used to be the Greek sorority dorm, which was definitely run down, but now they are renovating it while the Greeks live in the Cunninghams which will be/ are being torn down too. The people in Greek life are somewhat nice to the non-greeks and the same with the non-greeks to the greeks. It really just depends on the person in my opinion.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Farmville is a small college town and most of the people that live there that are not students are near the bottom of the economic food chain. This, I believe derives from the fact that there are not many job opportunities in Farmville other than working at the school or Wal-mart. Even then neither pay very well I don't suppose. However, I have found the locals of farmville to be very nice.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I have never lived off campus, but I have seen some of the locations at Longwood and they all seem to be pretty nice, but you definitely pay a lot to get that nice place. Also, I have never been through the process of getting off campus housing, so I cannot really comment on that.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I feel like the people in the financial aid office at Longwood are more than happy to help you with anything, and if everything were to happen through them the process would be much easier. However, I do not like dealing with the FAFSA and the governement because they barely ever give me any financial aid outside of federal loans that I have to pay back when I graduate. My family is not poor, but prices to attend college are getting ridiculous and the processes that you have to go through to get any help is a pain.

3 College Junior

Computers: I bought my Dell through my school and I definitely use that more than the computer labs. The only computer lab that there seems to be is the one in the library, which is full during certain times of the year. The network reliability is great, but the wireless does not work in all the rooms of all of the dorms, which can be frustrating at times because of having to have an ethernet cord, but it's not unmanageable. It costs a little bit of money to print things in the library and you can only use your lancercash. This is why I have my own printer.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: At Longwood almost everyone has their own look and personality. Some people, especially girls, dress to impress almost every day. Some sororities seem like they all have the same dress code and same personalities, while there are others that are completely different and diverse. I don't feel like the guys/girls are any different from other universities in respect to their personalities or the way they dress.

3 College Junior

Weather: My school is in Virginia, which means different types of weather all the time. I have lived on campus the every year I have been in school and the weather has never been a huge issue for me.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: My school is strict when it comes to important things especially when they affect others and reflect on the school badly.
