Academics: Depending on if you go to Main Campus Lock Haven or Clearfield campus depends on how well the academics are. At Clearfield they are pretty good but Clearfield campus academics are centered around the nursing program and the criminal justice program. Main campus is centered around all the other majors they have. The professors at Clearfield are very nice and very helpful. Does help that it is a small campus so they can offer more help and your not just a number to them. Depending on what your going for depends on your work load. I know for the nursing program the workload is huge and very time consuming. The nursing program is also the most popular it seems as well.

Nightlife: The downside is at some point, noise attracts police and the parties end, but not at all party locations, but there are parties for everyone!

Campus Housing: The only downside to on campus living is the Price for food and On campus stores. The best way to buy snacks is buying them in bulk at the local market or even better, The local Wal-Mart, which if you catch a cab with a friend is only about $6 dollars for a round trip.

Local Atmosphere: The Area is Good if you have a car. but manageable

Campus Housing: Lottery system is super confusing and time consuming. Also, dorms are old and I feel you can get a better value elsewhere.

Drug Safety: High alcohol usage, I'm not really sure about drugs.

Majors: My major is currently Pre-Med (Pre Physician's Assistant), and I would not change my career path at all. It is very hard work, but I knew this going into this field. I am not that thrilled about having to take certain classes that really do not pertain to my degree though.

Majors: If you go to LHU right out of high school, or start at the school first, and do not transfer in, you can join the program. However, if you are a transfer student, you have a really hard time getting into the program.

Drug Safety: Many students have shared their alcohol use stories, (many are underage), but I have never personally seen anything while on campus during the school day.

Making friends that last a lifetime is just an added bonus to a student's "Haven" experience. However, the school is not for everyone. At times, the University can feel too small, almost like a high school. And if you don't like cold and moody weather, you may want to consider going somewhere else. On the other hand, Lock Haven is in a gorgeous region of Pennsylvania, and the drive alone is worth the trip.

If you're looking for a school that's highly spirited when it comes to sports, you may want to drive down the road to Penn State. School spirit at Lock Haven is nonexistent, with more students turning out for the intramural and club sports than the varsity ones. The lack of spirit doesn't transcend to academics, though. The intimate classroom sizes are conducive for great one-on-one relationships with professors, igniting spirited discussion. Professors can be tough graders, but it's not high school—nothing comes easy anymore. Overall, if college is a battlefield, then Lock Haven prepares you for the war of the workforce.
