Nightlife: Nightlife is not really existent. There are things on campus every once in a while.

Health & Safety: It is super safe. I have never really felt scared while on or around campus. The city itself is pretty safe too. The LUPD is pretty good. The jump started my car when the battery died. Just beware of the parking Nazi's ... word to the wise park where your supposed too or you will get towed at one point.

Local Atmosphere: Liberty is in a small city; Lynchburg, Va. So there isn't too much going on the shopping is neutral. You have Target, Wal-Mart, Khols, Best Buy and a few other places just across the way. And a dollar theater right there too. Over all Liberty is pretty centrally located. There are a few places to eat. There are parks and paths within a 15 min. drive. It's a super safe area. The schools football games and hockey matches are always fun. All and all it's pretty great if your looking for a low key college experience.

Drug Safety: Drug safety at Liberty University is well maintained. I would say they are very strict about keeping a professional and moral look about them. Students are fined for substance abuse and expelled after warnings. But like any school, it all matters on who you hang out with.

Diversity: Despite what people assume about LU, it is a mostly accepting school if you are gay, have a bad past, had problems with the law, etc... I have several gay friends there, some in student leadership, friends who used to be drug dealers, some friends who had other criminal records. The school is all about loving you for who you are.

Off-Campus Dining: There are many places that take our flames cash such as: Texas Roadhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, Bojangles, the Drowsey Poet, Applebees, TGIF's, and many others. If a restaurant doesn't take our flames cash it normally has specific nights during the week when it gives us discounts. It's very affordable and you can find many types of different of restaurants are available less than five minutes from campus and even in walking distance.

Campus Strictness: Although every one gripes about the "strict" rules we have at Liberty University, they are actually rules I have come to appreciate. Some of the rules that are often complained about are no watching R rated movies, no drinking/smoking/drugs, 12 AM curfew on weekdays, 12:30 on weekends, modest clothing, no shorts or sweats in class, etc. For me, most R rated movies do little else but entertain, if that, for about 2 hours. Most of the student body is underage, and there really are no health benefits or academic benefits of drinking/smoking/using drugs. Almost everything in Lynchburg closes at 10 PM so there really is no need to be out past 12 AM anyway, and lastly, there is no reason not to look nice and put together for classes, and there is never a reason for immodest clothing.

Health & Safety: While at Liberty University I felt safe at all times. LUPD always had someone available to help, whether it was to report a stolen item, or to give an escort back to one's dorm at night. They did regular testing of the fire alarms and the security alarms. Liberty, even though still being an open campus, has taken extra safety and security measures by building the tunnel under the highway and railroad tracks. Not only are students able to walk through campus safely, but even get on and off campus without walking over live railroad tracks. I never felt safer than when I was at Liberty.

Diversity: Liberty University is a very diverse University, there are many different nationalities represented on campus and online and there is an entire department that hosts events for international students. Also, Liberty University accepts people from many different religions even though it was founded as a Baptist college. Although Liberty is a Christian University it does not hesitate to allow those struggling with their sexual orientation, and has hosted speakers who have struggled with homosexuality at Convocation. Liberty University is a very diverse in all regards and welcomes all.

Majors: I do feel that I will enjoy this program. The flexibility of having online classes is very good for what I need for my life

Academics: I am about to start my first year at Liberty University. I will be enrolled in the online program for a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies and I am excited. My major will be Finance and Accounting and from reading and researching these programs on their website I must say that I will be more than ready for my career as an accounting analyst, payroll specialist, financial analyst or any other job in my related field.

Off-Campus Housing: There are tons of apartments and housing available, and more being built each year. You can choose from renting a house, apartment, or quad style apartment where you have your own bedroom and bathroom and share a living room and kitchen. Prices are fairly reasonable, especially when you compare them to other cities and have roommates. Most of the major apartment complexes are on the bus line, so you technically don't even need a car. Everything is pretty close to campus.

Facilities: There are many things that the school provides for students to do. The school has racket-ball courts for example whenever someone would like to work out or just play.

Local Atmosphere: The local area around Liberty is nice and there are many places to go to whenever there's shopping to do.

5 College Student

Athletics: Their athletic fields are very nice and upgraded. The soccer field is super nice. They also have racket-ball courts which was plesantly surprising.

Nightlife: The area has many things to do as well as not being over packed with too many. Many popular stores are around and very close which is very convenient.

5 College Senior

Academics: It is challenging, yet, rewarding. The classes were filled with current information, and the books (curriculum) were up to date and current -providing both secular and Christian-based views. The workload can be a bit challenging so the student will need to be disciplined and organized.

3 College Freshman

Academics: I am just a freshman so I have not really been able to take any of my major classes yet, but with the classes I have taken I have learned alot about myself and about Liberty. I also learned how to study and be a good student, also all the professors are super helpful!!

4 College Senior

Academics: As an online student, the academics had a wide variety of classes to choose from, and the classes were reasonably set-up in order to accomplish in 8 weeks all that was assigned. There were a variety of electives to choose from.
The professors were available via email or phone and most responded in a timely manner.

Athletics: The athletics at Liberty University are really good! The sports complexes are top shape and state of the art! The football team actually made it to the SCC, and the track and field team has won almost all of their events too!

1 College Freshman

Nightlife: The nightlife at Liberty University is virtually non-existent, because you would get in major trouble if an RA or someone of that nature found out, because it is against the rules to drink and to have parties at LIberty. The thing is though that as long as there are not pictures taken and everyone is of age , and the party is off campus it is not that bad but if you get caught you could possibly get kicked out of school.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: You will hardly hear about any drug abuse and when you do it is a really big surprise because not a lot of people use drugs.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: This grade is for East Campus. They are the nicest and most spacious. They are the only option for me!!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: There's really no tolerance for drugs, alcohol, parties, watching porn, or being promiscuous! If you get caught doing any of these things, you can get kicked out of school. There's a fine line between right and wrong and we are a Christian school, and those things are wrong therefore they can and will be punishable. I do think the parking at Liberty is ridiculous! 200$ a semester for me to park and if I park in the wrong spot at North Campus if I'm running in to get mail or something, I could get towed! And I'm a commuter! I should have better options for the price I pay! They will seriously tow you, no warnings. Also, I had a friend and a guy in her brother dorm didn't like her so he told people she was smoking pot and they cut some of her hair out and tested it! Came back negative but that was a little extreme.

Off-Campus Dining: I give it an A because we recently in the past few years have had many new places to eat built. Liberty is in the center of Lynchburg pretty much, and food surrounds us. Anywhere you want to eat is just over the hill. The commute is not long the prices are very fair! The only places I know that offer discounts are Chic-fil-a on Chandlers Mt, Dominoes, Subways, and Mc Donalds. Its about 10% off on average. Off-campus dining gives you a variety of choices! I suggest that you check out CookOut - its new and you get a lot of money for the cheap price you pay!
