4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Favorite Experience – My favorite experience at liberty university would be the convocation ceremonies that are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The Liberty University transit is very helpful for those people who doesn't feel like walking a mile just to get to one class.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Computer Labs – The computers at liberty university are good and are available at your convenience. Even late night studying, the computers are available.

Scholarships: Not a Hassle If You're Rich – There's some financial aid, but it's not enough if you're poor like me. They put the deadlines for financial check-in pretty early, and half the time we pay money and then they end up giving it back to us because the timing is off--ex: we pay a thousand or so, and then the loans go through and they give us the money back. But we rarely have that money so it sucks. also, all the aid only lasts for four years so if you have a double major and you need an extra semester, you're screwed.

Guys & Girls: We Are Awesome – A couple years back, the girls at our college we rated the prettiest at any college- and that review was from Playboy. There are more girls than guys on campus, but not by too much. Many of the guys are good looking, and a lot of them know how to play guitar and sing. It's pretty cute. We've got a nice variety, from athletic guys to kind of dorky guys but since just about all of them are Christian they're nice no matter what type you like.

Facilities: There is near-constant construction going on, but they move pretty quickly. They just finished adding a couple thousand seats to our football stadium and completed the indoor soccer field. At the student center we have five basketball courts, a room full of treadmills and elipticals, a huge weight room, bicycles, a rock wall (to climb), a pool, adequate locker room spaces, and an indoor track. We also have outside tennis courts, baseball fields, a track, volleyball courts, an archery range, and a gun range. Somebody donated a lake to Liberty. We have hiking trails all over our mountain and there are many open spaces on campus to play ultimate frisbee or whatever students want on weekends. Also, we have Snowflex- we can ski and snowboard any time of the year; they even give lessons.
Our library is pretty good but they are beginning the plans to update that as well. There are tons of places to hang out, inside and outside, all over campus and in every academic building.

Weather: Virginia is beautiful. Recently we've had more snow, but that's only a problem because southerners freak out every time it flurries so they cancel classes. The spring is usually warm all weekend and rain during the week if at all. Summer is pretty hot but that's what the AC is for. Fall is nice and cool. Overall the weather isn't outrageous; there is quite a temperature difference between standing in the shade than standing in the sun so it's perfect--just move a couple feet depending on if you're hot or cold.

Drug Safety: Drugs at a Minimum – If the university catches you with drugs, you will be kicked out. It may seem like a harsh policy, but you sign a contract before you enroll stating that you will hold yourself to a higher standard. Of course, not everyone follows this and I'm sure if you know where to look you could find it at Liberty but the vast majority don't even think about drugs, much less use them.

Academics: Pretty Awesome School – The professors have a lot of knowledge to share, the location is beautiful, and there is a spirit of unity throughout the campus. People genuinely try to help each other and build each other up. I'm studying English with Teacher Licensure, and it is a lot of work but it's worth it. The English department has wonderful teachers that will go the extra mile for students, even helping us with work and our personal lives. The Education department is the same way, though the work there is more hands-on as we spend quite a few hours every semester working with students directly and getting as much field exprience as we can, even before we begin student teaching. Liberty is really preparing me to get a job once I graduate.

Campus Strictness: Very Strict – As a Christian student, this is one reason I chose Liberty. Though it is strict, it does not exceed the standards of life I would expect to adhere to myself as a Christian.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: The campus has all sorts of sports available with wonderful facilities whether fields or indoor arenas. School spirit is high and games are heavily attended.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There is a lot of variety with everything from hamburger joints to quality restaurants within a 2 mile radius.

3 College Freshman

Parking: I don't own a car of my own so I don't know much about the parking situation. But I do know that parking on campus has gotten to be a pretty difficult task, as there are many students driving to school and not many parking spaces.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There is always a lot of activity's going on at Liberty. Most weekends there is some type of sporting event going on, as well as movie nights or plays at the theater. Down town offers some attractions such as bowling, golfing, and a discount movie theater.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Eating Off Campus – There is a great variety of places to eat off campus. A lot of these places are within walking distance of the school, which is very helpful because many students like myself don't have cars. The cost of most of these places is also pretty easy to afford.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Bicycles Might Be Best Option – There is a good bus system but depending on where you are there may be better ways to get around. I live on the hill (which is in the center of campus) and have found that I can get around quite well either on foot or on a bike. Students living on other dorms may not have as many options and may rely on buses.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Very Little Drug Use – The school has is very strict when it comes to drugs and curfew. Because of this there is no real drug scene on campus and recreational use is done in secret. There's no peer pressure to do drugs but some choose to use drugs and try to get away with it, especially at the dorms in the annex.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The majority of students here are white, but we have people from all over the world studying here. The second biggest groups are asian and black. Obviously most of the students here are Christian, but the school accepts students of all religions backgrounds.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Online Availability – The best experience at Liberty University is that all of my classes are offered on line. I live miles away from the campus but I can take advantage of what the college has to offer from my home.

4 College Junior

Academics: Persistent Once I Said, "I Do" – Liberty University was very persistent since I inquired about the university. They called everyday and sometimes 2-3 times a day, in which got a little annoying. Liberty University persitency paid off, I am getting ready to start another subterm.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: our CLAB is good for studying and doing research and all the above.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Police and Safety Services – the school has a great security program because we have police officers all over campus investigating at all time.

3 College Senior

Weather: Well Informed – Awareness of the weather conditions based on location allows one to plan for and dress accordingly.

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Christian Principles Are Adhered to – As a Christian university morals are of paramount importance and enforced

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The university officials do take the availability of housing for students in mind and make adequate arrangements for their housing needs.
