4 College Sophomore

Parking: When I went to the campus, it was very convenient and had many available spots.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: It's more of a clubs and honors society kind of place.

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: It's beautiful! It is the outdoorsman's (or woman's) dream!

College Sophomore

Nightlife: Frankly, it is a Christian School, so the nightlife may not be what people want at a public school. I am perfectly content with a group of friends playing frisbee, hiking mountains, or in a coffee shop on a rainy day. It's all about what you set your expectation for.

Computers: Liberty's wifi speed is slow and unreliable.

Weather: The wind in Lynchburg is ridiculous.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The LUPD police officers are very helpful and understanding. They are very good at dealing with issues on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It takes a decent amount of time and effort to find a good place for a reasonable price. The main con to living off-campus is having to depend on roommates to keep up their end of the deal.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: Liberty is a very safe campus, especially considering curfews get students inside the dorms at a reasonable hour. I have never felt unsafe anywhere on campus. Generally every area is well lit, and they even provide safety escorts at night.

Academics: Like all schools, there are classes/professors that will motivate you to learn, and there are those that won't. LU requires a lot of general education courses, including Bible courses. For the most part these are good courses and great for every Christian to take, but sometimes the gen eds can be burdensome when you are trying to focus on the courses in your major. Altogether the academics are not that rigorous-- but the bright side of that is that you aren't (usually) assigned work just for the sake of work. I have certainly learned a lot here, and I have had excellent teachers inside and outside the School of Music.

College Junior

Nightlife: There are no "parties" on campus in the usual sense. However, Student Activities works hard to bring cool events to the students, such as Coffeehouse (a talent show that takes place each semester), movie nights in the Vines Center, and some great concerts.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Lynchburg doesn't have a whole lot going on. Downtown Lynchburg is charming and there are some coffee shops in the area where musicians play. Opera on the James (located downtown) puts on great productions. But basically all of my activities while at LU were related to the school (eg. the awesome Tower Theater productions!), or in Roanoke.

4 College Junior

Athletics: We have some very spirited Flames fans, and the football games are often packed! Everyone is encouraged to wear read on Fridays during football season. "Be Early, Be Loud, Wear Red!"

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There are some very solid, godly men here. But there are also a lot of kids. I suppose that's true of anywhere though.

4 College Junior

Diversity: LU has a lot of amazing international students! I have some great friends from all over the world now. (By the way... I do know non-Christians who attend Liberty. And liberals. But frankly, not very many of them.)

College Junior

Greek Life: The only Greek letters you'll see around campus are for honor societies and clubs. No frats here.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Buses run frequently all around campus, which is great because parking can be a nightmare. There is really not enough parking at LU right now, but they are building a new parking garage which should alleviate the problem. It's not very practical to walk to any off-campus destinations so a car is necessary.

Also, I lived in the Cornerstone apartments off campus and Liberty runs a very convenient bus system from there to campus and back. I didn't even need to buy a parking pass (which, by the way, can get very pricey).

5 College Junior

Drug Safety: You have to go looking for drugs and alcohol at LU. While I heard about parties off-campus, I personally never encountered any drugs or alcohol. And on-campus, forget about anything shady going on.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are several great options for off-campus living, although students have to get special approval to live off campus if they are under 21/junior status. It can be a lot cheaper to live off campus if you are smart with your food expenses, and they also offer commuter meal plans for you to use during the day on campus. LU also has bus systems that directly service some of the apartment locations. Extremely convenient!

3 College Junior

Weather: It can be rainy in Lynchburg... But it's a beautiful mountainous area and generally it's pretty mild.

5 College Senior

Computers: The college has a good policy for technology updates.

5 College Senior

Drug Safety: This is a Christian college and the atmosphere ensues a predilection of a spiritual nature for a self-honor code of integrity.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: No drugs or alcohol...not needed, there are plenty of things to do to have fun. On campus, snowboarding, and tubing as well as pools and a sports complex. Also a div 1 school with a beautiful stadium.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Lots of things to do on campus and off.
