Drug Safety: Drugs are very uncommon at Liberty. Usage is definitely rare.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: Liberty is very good at keeping in contact with students concerning financial aid. They are extremely helpful if you make in-person appointments rather than phone calls.

5 College Senior

Facilities: Liberty's facilities are outstanding. There is always construction of a new building underway, as well as additions to the old. All buildings are always gorgeous and well kept. Liberty is home to snowflex (a year round ski-slope), an ice rink, skate park, multiple pools, private movie theater...it is hard to think of facilities we don't have.

Parking: Getting a permit is very time consuming, you can be waiting in line for hours. If you're willing to pay for a higher permit then parking may be decent, if you're early. Towing is outrageous. Overall there is too many cars and too few spaces.

Guys & Girls: The community is one of my favorite things about Liberty. The guys are genuine, godly, fun guys. They are serious about their education and their relationship with God. The guys at LU are extremely attractive! It is rare to find an ugly guy here...and even if you do he will most likely be the sweetest guy you will ever meet. The girls are super friendly, and I've been told our school is top 3 in the nation for girls. They too are serious about their future careers and their relationship with the Lord. The environment is healthy, encouraging, and safe. I have developed some of my closest relationships here at Liberty that I know will be life-long.

Campus Housing: On-campus housing at Liberty University is phenomenal. The dorms are spacious, kept clean, and no dorm is insanely far from classes. I lived on "The Circle" freshman year and loved my location. It was close to classes, the Intramural fields, a good bus stop, and Dunkin' Donuts for a late night coffee run. The cost for "the circle" was not outrageous. And move-in was a breeze. The leadership on the halls were phenomenal (The RA's, SLD's, and prayer leaders.) I am living in "The Quads" my upcoming sophomore year which is directly behind the circle. I love this end of campus. I haven't heard anything negative about any location on campus though.

Off-Campus Dining: Liberty University is surrounded by off-campus dining. Liberty is found off of Wards Rd. Wards Road has tons of great food/restaurants. You have your typical fast foods places; Sonic, Chick-fil-a, Mcdonalds, Cookout, Wendy's, Taco Bell. But you also have nice places such as; Texas Roadhouse, Logan's Roadhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cracker Barrel, Panera, Starbucks. Most of these places listed are within walking distance. Lots of the local restaurants accept "Flames Cash," (pre-loaded ID card, similar to giftcard, we can use on/off campus). Cookout is a Liberty University hot spot. Along with Sonic, Sheetz, and Buffalo Wild Wings. If you ever want to get off campus for a meal, fun experience, or non-cafeteria food, our school's location makes it easy!

Weather: Lynchburg is also known as "Drench-burg." It does rain quite a bit at Liberty University, but I don't mind it. Students know to carry an umbrella or wear a rain jacket. If you go to class prepared then that, along with our awesome bus system, the rain will not hurt! Also, it doesn't storm very often; just rains hard. It will rain for a couple of days but then that is always followed by beautiful sunny weather. It isn't always raining here. Liberty University is in the mountains, so sunsets and campus life is awesome.

Nightlife: It's not a metropolitan area, and it's a Christian campus, so finding a lot of these type activities on/off campus is a challenge.

Scholarships: For undergrad they are fine, but for grad school they are basically non-existent

4 College Junior

Parking: Parking is generally available as long as you get there in plenty of time to find a spot.

Scholarships: Being an online student, there are not much in the way of scholarships from the University but I did receive one as a surprise for my summer semester. I enrolled for classes then I had to cancel those ones and register for different ones. When I re-registered for the summer term there was a 15% discount which brought my summer tuition down over $1000!! I was so happy and relieved. The rest of the financial aid process is really easy to maneuver and the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful through every step of the way.

Majors: I began my studies in Fall of 2012-2013 at Liberty and for a lack of knowing what I wanted to do, I enrolled in the Associates of Criminal Justice. I knew I wanted to venture into this field, but did not know the avenue. I began with core classes for the Gen-Ed requirements and learned more about the Bible than I could have ever imagined! I am truly honored to be part of such an amazing University. I have recently changed my major into the precise direction I want to go. I am now enrolled in a double major, a BS in Business-Public Administration and a BS in Paralegal Studies with a Minor in Accounting. I am very excited about this path. Liberty has amazing opportunities for all students, online and residential. There are many internship opportunities, the curriculum will be a heavier load when I get into the upper class courses but I am confident in my abilities and the broad spectrum of assistance that the school has to offer to reach my goals!!

Academics: I came to Liberty University because of their core Christian values and world views. The professors and instructors have shown time and time again how dedicated they are to the welfare of the students. There are a lot of colleges that only care if you will be there paying tuition, Liberty cares that each and every person enrolled has an opportunity for help to maintain their goals of graduating. Each person you talk to, chat with, or email always has a great attitude toward your needs and is such a blessing in the ways of academia. Truly a school off the beaten path!!

Athletics: Sports are one of the highlights of our university. We are the Flames Nation, and it's been said that Liberty University has one of the most passionate fan bases of any academic institution. Baseball, football, soccer, tennis, softball, wrestling, basketball, intramurals...you can't get away from the sports scene here!

Parking: Parking on campus has it's ups and downs. Since the majority of the student body are resident students, their parking arrangements rarely conflict with the commuter and faculty. However, parking is currently challenging, and for commuters and those paying less or nothing for parking, at least 15 minutes is a good time to arrive prior to classes. Fortunately, we are in the midst of building a new parking garage designed to drastically reduce the scarcity of local parking.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: We are an insanely attractive bunch of students. Guys are generally handsome, friendly, gentlemanly, and well-dressed, while the girls are in-fashion, big-eyed, and sweet. Our social lives are vibrant due to the many social activities on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: There is a fairly expansive variety of housing options on campus. Students can choose from traditional hall-style residence halls or more contemporary apartment-style buildings. Amenities are nice, sometimes basic, but certainly manageable. While I personally am a commuter student and do not live in the dorms, I have visited multiple friends in several different residence hall set-ups and have been impressed with the arrangements.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: The school presented options for our internship if we didn't have one that qualified. The pay of internship depended on the leadership of your internship. I'm currently a grad student and hold a position in my chosen field of study.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The character of the student body is focused on living a life that upholds moral standards of the Bible. There's no room for drugs to be a part of our life.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: During my undergrad, the youth ministry degree was always we received from others. We had the occasional joke said to from the pastoral majors, maybe because we weren't required to take as many greek or hebrew classes.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: I was strengthened and encouraged through every trial I had at Liberty. They well experienced professors who don't puff up reality, but prepare their students to be challenged in life when they graduate.

Majors: I did not encounter any difficulties or challenges getting into the program I am in. The most important criteria for admission, in my opinion, is the pastoral reference. The application process is not abnormal in my opinion. It is a matter of receiving backing from your local pastor. This is something that needs to be prayed about before applying to be a student. LBTS (Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary) is great because they allow females to apply and be students. You do not have to be a pastoral student to be a part of LBTS.

5 Recent Alumnus

Majors: I totally enjoy LUO and the Seminary program. I am taking a masters in Divinity in Chaplaincy and so far I love it. The work is hard and it is reading intensive, some classes writing intensive or even both reading and writing intensive. The curriculum is interesting and the teachers are great so far. I believe that the possibilities are endless.
