If you have a meal plan, you pretty much have to eat in "the Bon" (Fields Dining Room) for most meals because you can only use flex points in the Trail Room, Maggie’s, and Dovecote. This can be restricting because the Bon is only open during certain hours, and sometimes it’s tough to juggle the hours with your classes. On the bright side, it is all-you-can-eat. However, that can be problematic when it comes to the Freshman 15. The salad bar is great, as is the deli bar during lunch. Bon Appétit, the company that caters on campus, does a good job of providing options for vegetarians and vegans, and it also provides many organic options. At first, it seems like the options are endless, but over the course of the semester, the menu becomes repetitive. Breakfast features an excellent omelet bar, fresh fruit, cereal, oatmeal, eggs, and bacon. Also, the Bon is usually packed, so it’s a great place to socialize.
The Trail Room has similar but slightly better food. It is used mostly by commuter students and faculty since you can only pay with cash or flex points. It is located downstairs from the Bon. Maggie’s is located central to many of the residence halls, and its late hours entice students to come and buy overpriced coffee drinks and snacks. Many wish there was a cheaper place to eat outside of regular meal hours on campus.
