Academic Experience: I have always been a good student, but I did not do too well in my Pre-Algebra class in Spring 2012. I know it was because it was a correspondence course, as I got a D when I feel that I could not ask the teacher any questions...he was difficult to contact. I like the classroom setting, where you can go up and ask the teacher if you do not understand a question or problem in your school work. I am happy to say that I did very well in my other three classes.

Academic Flexibility: Academic Flexibility – They do not offer each class at every hour of the day, but they do give you several choices in most cases on which days and time you would like to attend class. Sometimes classes that I need run into the time of other classes that I need. That is when I must determine which class I need more, or which class will benefit me more to take first.

Online Courses: My Online Course Experience-Sociology – I thought the online course was very convenient, especially since I am a single mother who goes to school full-time. I am new to the area, so my mother cannot always babysit for me. The syllabus was explained very thoroughly, and we were told which assignments and reading from the textbook to do ahead of time. The only problem with online courses is you never really do group work or get to meet your teacher or your peers. Other than that, I love taking online classes.

Campus Resources: Cheap Classes and Nice Instructors – The College here is quite cheap and the instructors are really nice. The math teachers make sure you understand the material. English classes are a breeze. Everything is quite nice. The Dean will take meetings with you if you need to talk to her.

Overall Experience: You're crazy to attend here. Period. This is where really bad professors come to retire. Almost 8 weeks into the semester with no financial aid in sight-currently being told it will be another 8 WEEKS. That means I will get the financial aid I need to attend this school AFTER the semester is finished. The machines we use are poorly maintained at best and you routinely get harassed by second year students that are repeating the class because they FAILED the year before. They expect front of the line privileges. The part that will really impress you is that the outrageously unprofessional instructors agree with this mindset. Welcome to Lord of the Flies. The only industry knowledge/education the instructors have is from this very school-and that's it. They claim to "work outside the classroom" but none of them can actually prove it. The small town this school is located in is beyond depressing. Population 17,000- what the sign doesn't say is that 10,000 of that is in the local state prisons. The academics are a total joke. I'm new to college level stuff but know a person with a master's degree. She looked at the few gen ed classes I took and said it should be a crime the college is giving these classes, because they were so easy. She said anyone prepared like this that wants to transfer to a real university better get ready to fail, because that's exactly what will happen. This school already was put on probation as far as it's mismanagement of financial aid. It is only a matter of time before they lose it for good and then this place will cease to exist. I actually moved here for this school. If I can save one single person from falling for the nice looking college catalog I will consider this post a success.

Campus Resources: Nice Campus – The campus facilities at Lassen are pretty good. There is a library, student store, dorms, a gym, computer lab and a cafeteria. There are quite a few computers in the library and then the computer lab is usually open for use if there is not a class in there at the time. The cafeteria is usually open as well as the student store for food, snacks or something to drink. Lassen has a nice small quiet campus.

Academic Experience: Graphic Design – I would like to get a major in Graphic Design. Lassen Community College has quite a few Graphic Design classes to get you started and they are working on making the program bigger so you don't just get a certificate at the end instead of something more, like an associates degree. The Graphic Design classes are great and has a great teacher that knows what they're doing when it comes to computers, Photoshop and design.

Campus Resources: Small Classes – I like how the classes at Lassen Community College are pretty small. I can talk to the teachers and get help if I need it due to the fact there aren't over twenty students in each class, usually. Some of my classes even had under ten students.

Student Body: there isn't a whole lot of diversity at our school, but it is a small college. sports bring people from all over the world to our school, which is refreshing. our school is a very tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone.

Online Courses: Online is a little bit more difficult from the traditional classroom setting. There is more work involved and it is sometimes hard to keep track of new assignments.

Academic Flexibility: Some of the teachers don't seem like they care about the students, but a majority of them are very one-on-one and approachable which makes classes so much easier for first time and returning students. Faculty is so friendly!

Academic Experience: The registration process is very easy, the even give you steps to follow if you're new. There's tutoring for those who need. I noticed that most of the professors actually want to be there, which is nice.I have a problem with the fact some classes are not offered each session, but class registration is very simple. Most people tend to transfer so their transfer program is very important.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Don't Forget BOG – I got the BOG fee waiver so my units were free, which I was free happy about. I'll recommend future students use it because almost everyone can qualify. While I was waiting for my financial aid money I used their book rental program which rented free books to student with low EFC and 1/2 off for the rest of the students. The value of my education has definitely be amazing because of this. Also I'll recommend buying your books online and comparing prices because you will save so much money.

Career Services: Career Success – I am new here so I'm not that familiar with the alumni program. The career and transfer center are very good in helping students find job and advising. It is a small town and they really help with finding jobs.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Computers Everywhere – There are many computers on campus. There's the library which has computer and printers. There's also a room in Student Services that also has a computer room for student use. There's also the media and communication center that has a computer upstairs and downstairs.

Overall Experience: Lassen College is a good community college. It is a very small town, and not for most people including me. I'm used to larger school so it is an adjustment. The people at the college are extremely helpful, and I would have given it a B in terms of education if they had all the classes I needed. Some classes are not offered each term, which is a huge problem for someone like me who needs a lot upper classes for transfer. But overall it is a good community college, actually the only college here so your choice is limited.
