Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Have a varied resume from your four years in high school. Be involved in a number of activities. Branch out; do not make your particular interests (academics, sports, volunteering, etc.,) the only focus of your time in high school.
  • Research what aspects of the school appeal to you, and then talk about your findings in your supplementary essay.
  • Try to arrange an interview, whether on or off campus. Build up a rapport with representatives of Lafayette College.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Do internships.
  • Don't assume you and your roommate will get along.
  • Don't be shy about getting to know professors.
  • Drinking is prevalent on campus.
  • It's OK to reinvent yourself-college is about changing.
  • Making new friends at college takes time.
  • Study abroad.
  • The food? Not so healthy.
  • There isn't really a business program.
  • We're stuck on a hill.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Call (610) 330-5100 at least two weeks prior to your visit to schedule an interview. No appointment is necessary for group sessions, but call ahead to be sure there is a session available on the day you plan to visit. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start time to register. To view tour times, go to www.lafayette.edu/admissions/visitation.html. Admissions interviews give prospective applicants a chance to speak about themselves in a one-on-one conversation with an admissions director; the interview lasts about 30 minutes.
Campus Tours
Student-led campus tours depart from the admissions office in Markle Hall, last about an hour, and are available without appointment, although registration is encouraged to ensure the best possible visit. Weekday tours take place at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Overnight Visits
Overnight visits must be scheduled with at least two weeks' advance notice. During an overnight visit, prospective students will be able to attend classes, meet professors, and experience Lafayette first-hand.
