3 College Senior

Transportation: The college is right on a bus line and it is pretty easy to get downtown within 20 mins from the campus. Also, the campus shuttle will drop you off at work, or take students on shopping trips to nearby grocery stores and department stores on the weekends.

1 College Freshman

Transportation: If you don't have a car, or know someone with a car, transpiration at La Roche is horrible. I'm sorry, transportation is horrible in Pittsburgh, PERIOD. Taxis never come on time, buses are always late. The taxi services almost made me miss my greyhound bus to get back home. It was absolutely nuts.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: The campus is small and even though you can get around campus okay, you can't venture outside the campus without a car. The nearest mall is on a busy road along with restaurants as well. Although their is a bus stop, buses don't come frequently and rarely come on Sundays.

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: they have a bus stop by entrance besides that, if you do not have you own vehicle you are stuck.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: There is not many on campus transportation options. We have transportation for campus events such as night at the theater or Pittsburgh tours, but other than that it is your job to find transportation. Taxi's in the North Hills area are very hard to come by because we are in such a busy and are very close to the city.

Pittsburgh's transit authority has been having financial problems for years now, and due to budget cuts and the rising price of gasoline, public transportation is scarce in outlying areas. There are buses that run by the La Roche campus, but they seem to be sporadic and unreliable. Taxi service is available in the city, but the average rate is too expensive for college students to afford on a regular basis. There are no subways near the College, and the one in Pittsburgh only runs through the very heart of the city and into the South Hills. Walking is usually out of the question as well due to the high volume of traffic near campus. Most roads have signs that say no pedestrians, and if you choose to go against that, you can be arrested. The best way to get from place to place while living at La Roche is to have your own car or know someone who does.

Greyhound is the most cost-efficient way to get out of the city. With a rather large station, it isn't hard to find the bus you need to get you where you need to go. Amtrak is also rather cost-effective, but travel time is longer than Greyhound. Flying is expensive, but it is the quickest way to get from Pittsburgh to anywhere else. All in all, the transportation near La Roche is not reliable unless you provide your own.
